Water Purification and Catalysts

Recently, I came across a book in my chiropractor's office that I am finding fascinating reading indeed. It's the story of a doctor who uses a very radical substance to treat almost any diease. What is this radical healing substance? Water. Just water. Pure, clean water.

In The Body's Many Cries for Water you will read about the extensive research this medical doctor has done into the role of water water plays in health. He believes that he has found chronic dehydration to be the cause of many conditions (I found his reports on actual use of water to treat dyspepsia particularly intriquing) including asthma, allergies, arthritis, angina, migraine headaches, hypertension, raised cholesterol, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, depression, and diabetes in the elderly.

For the first time in medical history, F. Batmanghelidj, M.D., has identified the crisis calls of the body for water .... (signals the body may give that it needs water desperately) pain, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and more. He has discovered the key to a longer, healthier, and more vigorous life. He shares with you his medical breakthrough that many people put their minds and bodies under intolerable and unecessary stress and become sick simply because they do not drink enough water. Unintentional dehydration leads to illness and painful, degenerative diseases that can be prevented, treated, and cure by drinking plenty of water.

Health-Related Challenges and Water

Asthma, which effects over 12 million children in North America alone and causes the deaths of several thousand each year, is a direct result of increased histamine production. Dehydration initiates exaggerated histamine production as a water regulating control. It is well known that asthmatics have excessive levels of histamines in their lung tissue causing constriction of the bronchial passages and increased mucus build up.

Water is used in the lungs to keep the tissue moist, but each time we exhale we expel moisture from our lungs. Under normal hydrated conditions the moisture is rapidly replaced. If we are in a dehydrated state then the tissue inside the lungs begins to coat with mucus to prevent drying.

There have been many animal studies which indicate that an increase in water intake will reduce histamine levels and over a 2 to 3 week period restore normal hydration to lung tissue and reduce mucus build up. Once this occurs the bronchial passages begin to open and normal breathing is restored. The same histamine related effects apply to allergies, and again, significant benefits can result from an increased intake of water.

Arthritis pain and stiffness is now understood to be initially a result of increased friction and swelling in the bone joints. Water is what our body uses to lubricate these joints. When our water levels are reduced there is increased friction between the cartilage surfaces resulting in swelling, stiffness and pain. The movement of the joints cause a suction that pulls water from the bone marrow to the joint cavity if there is available water. An increased intake of water and gentle rhythmic movements of the joints can ease and in many cases overcome minor arthritic pain.

Hypertension is very often a result of the body adjusting to blood volume loss, according to Dr. Batmanghelidj, MD, a recognized expert on natural and preventive treatments. The most common cause of lower blood volume is dehydration.

Since our blood is more than 83% water it's total volume is heavily effected by the level of available water in our body. When the body detects a loss of blood volume it closes off less active capillary beds in order to maintain proper blood flow to the more active areas. These vessel closings cause a rise in tension inside the muscle mass which we've come to know as "hypertension". More water allows proper blood volumes and less tension.

Other than the obvious health benefits of showering in chemical free water, the cosmetic benefits are even more noticeable. Anyone who has ever gone swimming in a chlorinated pool can relate to the harsh drying effect that chlorine has on your skin and hair. Without the effects of chlorine and other chemicals found in tap water, your skin and hair retain moisture more effectively for a younger healthier look and feel.

Water Additives
Willard Water - I've used Willard Water, off and on, for quite a few years now. It's basically a holistic health product that works by altering drinking water.

The reported benefits of Willard Water include increased absorption and utilization of minerals and increased elimination of toxins.

I know one thing -- it will clean you out! It is about the best longterm tonic I've found for colon health and regularity. It even works for my sister, who has Crohn's disease. However, she has to take much less than the recommended blend, or it is too strong. And Willard Water is one of the first things I will give my cat if he starts getting sick. Animals love Willard Water!

I've also used a product called Xooma, which I liked, but it is through an mlm program and I don't like that. It's expensive too. Xooma is reported to correct acid-alkaline imbalances in the body and to help the body hydrate.

I've also used Prill Beads. These are added to water and used over and over so much less expensive than xooma. Prill beads also are reported to assist with better hydration and are marketed as reconditioning, restructuring catalysts for water.

Since Prill Beads can impart a magnesium into the water for a long time, I don't recommend drinking only prill water. Too much magnesium is as unhealthy as too little. I wouldn't drink prill water all day nor would I drink it with other products like Xooma or Willard Water. I'd drink a glass a day but you can muscle test and see if you might need more or less.

Getting a good night's sleep.......

Stress and the worries of the day can keep us from resting well. If we don't rest well, our body loses valuable time for rejuventation. So, how do we learn to sleep better, deeper, more restfully?

Inducing a deep state of relaxation is one way and that's where the use of relaxing tapes, listened to as you go to bed, can help.

On these particular tapes, filled with soothing sounds, you can choose from include waterfalls, forest sounds and ocean.

These are actual sounds from genuine locations, not studio-produced facimiles. You hear the true noises of birds such as the Laughing Dove, the Barn Owl, or the Pelican. You hear the true sounds of jungle animals such as the Tree Monkey, Pine Borer, or Pond Frog.

They don't simply "loop" studio sounds... you can hear the tide of a real ocean coming in, then going out again in true 3D soundscape stereo.
