Cats/Kittens Page

If you want a kitten/cat or you've got one and want to learn more then this page should help you out a bit.

Kittens

Kittens need to play to develop into a healthy adult. When a kitten plays it learn some vital skills that may be needed later in life. For example if a dog attacks the cat the cat has learned to swipe at the dog with its razor sharp claws. It is important never to punish your kitten/cat for playing even if it is rough as it will become defensive and scratch. This also may lead the cat into having terrible habits. From playing,  kittens also get the exercise they need as a youngster.

Some ideas to encourage your kitten to play are:

*Roll up some paper into a ball so the kitten can roll it around

*Let your kitten play with a paper bag

*Buy toy mice or things that squeak

*Set up a scratching post

*Tie a feather to the end of a string

Cats

Cats and kitten need the right diet in order to be healthy. You should feed your cat things that are suitable  for cats that are high in protein and fat diets, non-generic cat foods, foods that show the manufacturer. Make sure that you feed your cat 1-2 times daily at the same time. That way if your cat accidentally leaves the house it has more of a chance of returning back home in order to eat.

If you are planning on giving you cat a bath then take note of the following. Only bath you cat when its coat is very greasy and dirty, your cats fur is matted and un groomed, a poisonous substance is on your cat in which you should also consult your vet, you need to dip your cat in flea or tick dip, or your cat is going to be in a show. If your vet suggests another reason listen to him her as that is her profession.

Make sure that you groom your cat regularly to prevent health problems.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CAT
