With the 2004 season, the Slidell Church Basketball League will commence it's eleventh season and this just may be our most challenging season yet. With limited funding and dedicated individuals, the league will have to be innovative and inspirational in how it makes things work. But once again, we anticipate, strive for and look forward to another season of excellence. Hard work is going to be the cornerstone of this season. In establishing this league, our goals are many but the purpose is one. That is, to illustrate the importance of church involvement in the growth of our young people, to say to our youth, "you are the future and we do care about you." Our goals are to teach respect for self and others, teamwork, responsibility, discipline, and still have fun. We strive to impress upon our youth a basic belief that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." By acknowledging this fact, the league hopes to establish an attitude of
"we" instead of "me", creating an
atmosphere of camaraderie through fellowship, competition and participation.
Strengthening moral character will be the commitment of this league, with
the emphasis on brotherhood. We ask all of our participants to engage in the
following creed: "In all of your contests throughout life, let God be
your referee." Randy White, President "May God Continue to Be Your Referee In Life"
