When you step off of the ferry and onto Kill Devil Island, South Carolina, the first thing you see as you peer through the palmettos, is a brand new, steel and glass shopping mall that towers over the white sands of Kill Devil’s beaches. A modern, though small hospital can be seen sitting across the island's main thoroughfare, Kill Devil Avenue and if you head toward the island’s interior you will find the million-dollar housing development, owned by Davis and Annisette Warburton, featuring its very own horse stable and golf course. The Warburton’s also have plans to develop the North side of Kill Devil as well, but the locals have much to say against that idea. Now, if you were to veer off of Kill Devil Avenue and onto a rutty, muddy, back road, you would find yourself smack dab in the middle of the authentic Kill Devil Island.

Chickens scratch the earth at the small Gullah settlement of Rooster Rest. Under the myriad stars young men sneak to Mama Tireve's back door, with trinkets and wadded up dollars to exchange for potent love charms. Turn the other way off of Kill Devil Avenue and you'll arrive at a small enclave with a few cottages surrounding a huge dilapidated mansion. You'll come across it suddenly, gasping "How did this house appear out of thin air?" Though it looks deserted, you shouldn't linger. This is the home of the descendents of Finnegan O'Neal, the first white man to inhabit the island. The remaining O'Neal’s are a clannish lot, and won't long tolerate the presence of strangers.

Kill Devil Island is a community full of diverse people, both natives and newcomers. Some have secrets to hide while others are out to reveal those secrets. Many residents have dark pasts or intentions, while few are there to lend a hand for the good of all. The only decision you have to make is… what role will you play in the saga of Kill Devil Island?

Started on July 10, 2002, Low Country has 19 members and 47 active characters. After a small hiatus, they now average over a 100 posts per month and that number continues to climb as storylines quickly progress within the group. Low Country is currently nominated in The RPG Awards in 4 categories, including Best Original Drama and Best Original Plot. And in January of 2004, Low Country will also participate in The Online Soap Opera Awards with nominations in 12 categories.

With murder, love, revenge, secrets, and so much more buried deep within the Island’s past, present, and future… this group stands as one of the best soap opera groups around! Its members strive to be original and their storylines and characters prove that fact! With a combination of innovative storylines and creative players, this group is sure to win its fair share of awards this year and in the years to come.
