Atlanta, Music Midtown Show Review
Credit: Me, Mike again...thats right I saw them again :)

Ok...Wow again, this band is truely one of my favorite bands of all time, and I haven't even known about them for over 4 months now! That has to tell all you people something. They are just amazing, Amy's voice sounds beautiful, while Ben and John's guitar licks echo in the air, Will's deep tone and jumping around, and Rocky's beat just merge together to form one of the most distinctive and hard rockin' sounds I have heard in my life. Again this Show review gets big stars from me for another great job by Evanescence on stage!

Alright, to start things off we drove down to Music Midtown in Atlanta from Nashville. For you peeps who aren't familar with MM(Music Midtown) it is a 3 day event where many many bands play on 6 different stages in this large area in Atlanta. Now we arrive in Atlanta on Friday night, and decide to leave right when we get in to go see Sheryl Crow, American Hi-Fi, Live, and Unwritten Law. So we get on Marta (the subway in Atlanta) and get to MM. Now we are about to walk in the gates when it starts to poor down rain and thunder and lighting starts rumbling the city. The cops on the streets told everyone the show was canceled for the night and to go home. So it takes us about 4 hours to get home because there is over 600,000 drunk/high/wet/puking people trying to get on Marta and get home. We finally get home and just get room service and are happy that this didn't happen when Eva was suppose to play.

The next morning my dad reads the paper and finds out that the show wasn't canceled, but only delayed an hour, and the cops were telling people it was canceled so they could go home. Unwritten Law and everyone that we wanted to see got back on stage a performed until midnight. Besides the fact that we were pissed we went to the Saturday show. This was the day Eva was playing. Now, before we went to the show we bought a shirt and fabric markers and I decided to make a shirt for Amy. :) The shirt was in black and bright green and that said "MARRY MEE AMY LEE" on it. Then we got on Marta again, and again it started to rain. This wasn't looking to good, I was gettin mad with all the rain! We arrive at MM just in time to see Die Trying finish their set on the same stage that Eva was gonna play on next. At this time there was probley bout 1,000 people there watching Die Trying. While they are switching sets more people start to flock in as the rain begins to stop. So I run to the stage, and get about 2 rows of people back from the stage, and I was very satisfied with where I was. The rain was completely stopped now, and the clouds began to dissapate as the local radio DJs introduce Evanescence. By this time the people doubled to about 2,000.

As soon as Eva hits the stage everyone goes crazy, and I hold up my shirt over my head. Amy seems to catch a glimpse of it right off hand and she smiled very big when she saw it. They kick off the show with Goin' Under and totally rock MM. Inbetween each song I would hold up my shirt, and every single time I would Amy would look at it and smile looking straight at me. Now I was only 2 rows of people back, so I was really close to the stage, and I could see Amy's eyes really well, and everytime she would look into my eyes I would just melt...she has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. The show was going great in mid-set, though there was some minor feedback here it was going solid. During Even in Death one of the lyrics in the chorus is "I will stay forever here with You." and everytime she sang that line she would look over at me, point and smile as she sang the "forever here with you" part. Now...I might be over exagrating, but my mom was standing right next to me the whole time and after the show my mom just kept saying over and over how many times she looked at me. I think part of it was she reconized me from the Nashville show, and couldn't quite figure out where she had seen me before, and the other part was probley cause the shirt. By the end of Evanescence's performance, and the first time I turned around to look at the crowd, it was over 600,000 people again...and the sky's were bright blue and sunny, as people crammed in to see all the bands.

Overall the show was awesome! And Evanescence gave another great performance, and I am even more in love with Amy Lee now...Critics in Atlanta (The Atlanta News Paper) even liked the band, but seemed to rag on how some of the songs sounded a like, but they seemed to love Amy. They said that the band-or atleast Amy- will do anything but what their defination means, to fade away. I do have some pics, but I don't have them uploaded yet, I will add them asap.

Nashville Show Review
Credit: Me, MIKE!

I have one word for you evanescence fans that are wondering how Eva is live...WOW! Evanescence was up there on my list of great performers live, and we are talking Aerosmith and Goo Goo Dolls here. Eva totally just rocked the show and took me by surprise. I went by myself so I thought I would be bored or something, but that wasn't the case at all, I had a complete blast! Not only was Eva good, but the two bands that opened up for them rocked too. Depswha(sp?) was the first one and was already playing when I walked in, then Revis followed them up. Revis does a song called "Caught in the Rain" which is really great. Both bands ended up standing right behind me for the Evanescence show.

Before the show Eva did an acoustic set at Tower Records then signed quick autographs and met their fans. This was great! I got to meet Amy and Ben! And I got their autographs! Ben was like awesome as hell! And Amy...she looks so beautiful in person, and I thought she was pretty on the cd cover, WOW. We had a nice little cute moment too...but it doesn't beat what happened after the show.

From Tower Records, which was a blast!, I went to Exit In to wait inline...and I mean there was a LINE, lol. But when I walked up to the bouncer he was like, go on in if you already have a ticket. So I was like Sweeeet, showed my tickets to everyone smirking (ya know Wayne's World baby, at the Alice concert), and walked in. Depswha(again sorry bout the spelling) was already blasting the roof, then Revis came on and kicked butt. Then after a long wait Evanescence came on! Not only did they put on a great show but they played awesome! Amy was back and forth on the stage jumpin and singin, then they played two cover songs. I am not gonna spoil it for you guys if your gonna go see em, but the songs they did were great! and totally surprising how well they played em! After the show I got close to the stage asking the roadys for one of Ben's or John's picks, but they didn't have any...So I decided it was about time to go, so I walked outside to the front...But the night wasn't over yet.

I waited outside of Exit In for about 5 minutes...trying to decide if it is time to go yet or not...so I talked myself into walking around back of Exit In...maybe find something interesting...Well I did! When I walked around back there was a crowd of like 15 people around two buses...Now I thought to myself...crowd...buses...tour...AMY! I ran over there and John and Rudy were already out signing autographs. Luckily my mom (yes i went with my parents, they like Evanescence too! They didn't get a ticket to the concert though, they watched from outside) snagged a poster off the door at Exit In and we got John and Rocky to sign it. Now let me tell you something...John is a really cool guy. We talked for a minute or two, and I mean like talked, I told him he was a great guitarist blah blah great show, and he talked back with actually sentences, it was awesome! Ok anyways, I asked a few people if Ben or Amy has been out yet and they all said no. So I was like oh yeah. After bout 5-10 minute wait they came out. It took awhile to get to them but once I did it was a dream come true. I got my picture taken with Amy leaning on my shoulder and my arm around her, with Ben on the other side rockin' on! After I got them to sign the poster I started to walk home the happiest man alive...Then my dad was like "There is still one picture left on the camera" so I ran over to John and Rocky and got a picture with them. And that made me even happier...The Show kicked major ass, and I got to hug AMY!!! AHHH...I am telling you folks, when I am a rock star Amy Lee is going to be my Wife...Mrs. Amy Lee Burkey....ahh that has a nice ring to it.

Evanescence Hits It Big
Credit: Dustin Hames

A homegrown Arkansas band is making a big splash onto the music scene. The rock group, Evanescence, released their debut CD this week, and it's already at the top of the music charts.

This CD is the hottest selling album in central Arkansas right now, and one of the biggest sellers in the country. Those who've followed Little Rock-based Evanescence for years say they're not surprised. With a haunting sound and a style all their own, Evanescence is well on their way to superstardom. The group's hit song “Bring Me To Life,” sets the tone for the new movie, “Daredevil.” And, their new CD, “Fallen,” is flying off store shelves.

Fans lined up hours in advance of its release, just to get a copy. "They're from Little Rock. We support them, we love them, and they are incredibly talented…and they rock!" exclaims Sydney Taylor & Julie Carter, two obvious Evanescence fans.

DJ’s at Little Rock's LICK106.3 say their listeners can't get enough of the band's unique sound. "Just the fact that they're from Little Rock is great, but there really is no other band that sounds just like them right now, and that's helping them a lot," says Trent “Treetop” Tyler, a LICK106.3 DJ.

Band Founder and Lead Guitarist, Ben Moody, and Lead Singer, Amy Lee, have been perfecting their songs since meeting as teenagers, at a church youth group. Melissa Moody, Ben's Mother, looks back…"they started working together at a very young age, I mean, they were just kids and found out she had all this enormous talent."

A talent that's getting recognized by all the right people, and a hit CD that appears to be just the starting point. "This is only the beginning for them, so way to go Evanescence!”

The CD, “Fallen” sold 45,000 copies across the country, on the first day it was released. That was just two days ago, and it's already number five on Billboard's Modern Rock chart.
