There are two types of chipmunks the eastern and western type.

The eastern chipmunk only has one species, and the western has seventeen species.

The smallest chipmunk is the Least chipmunk its normal height is 4 inches and the tallest chipmunk is the Townsend chipmunk and its normal height is 13 inches.

The chipmunk never stores food that will rot in his tunnel underground.

The chipmunks carry there food in there cheek pouches, they take the food to the nest so they can feed there young.

When the chipmunks mate they its in the late winter, usually in between February and April.

The female will raise her young with out the male and then she will let the babies go after six weeks.

Chipmunks do not hibernate during winter, they will only go to sleep during the coldest mouths.
