Snow Report And Other Information | History Of Ski
Resorts in Colorado Skiing in Colorado started in 1859 during the gold rush. Miners were having trouble getting through the deep powder and then they heard about ski's and used them to get through all of the powder. Eventually the miners started having races down the mountains on their skis and making bets where the last one down would have to buy the winners cigars and oysters. As people began to hear of skis more and more people would ski to work or school. People would also have ski races and winter carnivals for fun. And then in 1911 a Norwegian man named Carl Howelson skied into the the hot Sulfer Springs and showed the people ski jumping, and forever after changed the state of Colorado.
