Raising cows and eating them hurts the environment.

  • 87% of all agricultural land in the U.S. is used for raising animals for food.
  • Cows can see everything in color.
  • Animals raised for food produce 130 times more ‘waste’ (poo) than humans… about 87,000 pound per second.
  • They can detect a smell from up to 5 miles away.
  • 260 million acres of U.S. forest have been cleared to grow crops to feed animals raised for meat
  • In their own environment, they can live to be 25 years old.
  • Cows have seven stomachs.
  • The world’s cattle alone eat the food equal to the caloric needs of 8.7 billion people.
  • More than half of all the water used in the U.S. is for all purposes needed to raise animals for food. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of meat.
