Enduring Twilight: Old World of Darkness

Mage 101

If you're here, you're probably new to Mage: the Ascension, and might or might not be new to the Enduring Twilight chronicle. Everyone has to start somewhere, so we might as well start here. This tutorial will walk you through the essential basics of creating a Mage for the game, and is designed to save the ops from having to talk new players through the basic but essential questions that crop up with every sheet. If you truly get stuck on something, talk to a Storyteller - but this should get you through most of it. Those who have played Mage elsewhere might be familiar with the basics, but I strongly recommend you read through it anyways - we try to make sure people have clearly defined paradigms and that they understand the system and how their Mage works their magic. Not all online Chronicles are as strict, so it's a good idea to check how we expect things submitted.

First of all, you'll want a sheet. If you've never before made a character using the (old) World of Darkness rules you'll want printed out sheet, because it tends to make it a lot easier to get through your first sheet this way. If you don't somehow have one in hand already download the pdf  - if you have a printer, print it out and you're good to go (it's a two-page sheet, but we're only going to really worry about the first page right now). If you do not have a printer, you can do your own the old fashioned way with lined paper, a pen and some patience - write out all the stuff on the first 'page' of the sheet, including the circles. Go and get your blank sheet on paper. Yes, now. Don't worry, I'll wait.

Got it? Good. Now we can get started. I've broken things down into 'lessons' - try to complete each one before going on to the next. It honestly does show if you don't.
