Welcome to GenetiX. If you are doing Jawetz for a review in Microbiology, you would have noticed that the chapter on Microbial Genetics is, well, horrible. the same goes about Neoplasia in Robbins. The same goes for countless other books and magazines and articles and TV reports which feature content related to Genetics and related material. Coming to contact with genetics can be quite an unnerving experience for those who thought that Mendel and his pea plants were all that was to genetics. What I plan to do in GenetiX is create basic awareness about genetics, to create a framework with which a novice can understand any future developments and not be overrawed by them. I do not wish to sit and explain each and every component and mechanism that underlies the 'genetic functionality' of every cell in the body. I assume a certain level of familiarity with the vocabulary of genetics. This site is organised into four main sections, all material related to Genetics being found in the form of articles. Later on when enough stuff has accumulated, a topic-wise arrangement would be possible. I've pared down the graphics to a minimum. DNA and RNA images (coming soon) should be a welcome break. |
