More About Us
In 1955 a group of women skiers belong to A.W.S. (Associated Women Skiers) wanted to start their own club. They named it Skiyente, loosely translated to "Snow Maiden". Therefore our newsletter became the Maidenforum. Sorority like in nature, our original by-laws mandated sponsors, rigid attendance, and restrictions. Today, Skiyente is a very open active club and part of the Northwest Ski Club Council. In 2006, Skiyente was awarded the Tollakson award for Outstanding Ski Club (A Division) at the Far West Ski Club Council. In 2007, Skiyente was awarded first place for charitable contributions and volunterism overall at FWSA! As Skiyente embarks on our 53rd year, join us and discover ski history in the making

Who
Eligible members are ladies 21 years or older who share a love of snowsports and the mountains and support related causes.

When
Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month. Of course there are exceptions. Two meetings are held in January and February. Meetings start promptly at 6:30PM.

Where
We are based in Portland, Oregon but we have many members far away too. We try to meet central to the majority of members. Contact us at skiyente@yahoo.com for information about our next meeting and its location.

Why
Because we are women, supporting one another, sharing, and caring are our strengths. Our club is rich in resources; our members. Skiyente, is not just a ski club!

Competing
Whether racing or encouraging others, we are the cheerleaders on the mountain

Meeting Locations
Ski Shop meetings are one way members hone their equipment skills

Community
An early snowstorm doesn't deter Skiyentes who are helping maintain a portion of Hwy. 35 on Mt. Hood through the Oregon Highway Clean-up Program.
