located in Albia, Monroe County, Iowa.  This is the cemetery where Alfred (Alford) and Joseph DAY are buried.

ALFORD (ALFRED) DAY

Son of C. & H. Day

Died July 16, 1857

E. 20ys 2 ms

His stone lies in the Old Section of Oakview Cemetery, Albia, Monroe County, Iowa.  Alford, also known as Alfred, was the 2nd son of Cyrus and Harriet.  He was the first of their children to die.  Have not discovered the cause of his death nor was I able to decipher the writing on the bottom of his stone.

JOSEPH DAY

June 9 1832 (or 1852)

Directly behind Alfred’s (Alford) tombstone (2nd row) is another that is for Joseph DAY this could possibly be the brother, cousin or nephew of CYRUS DAY.  Joseph’s stone looks as if it has been broken in half and then cemented into the ground (like Harriet’s in Woodlawn Cemetery).  At least the top half has been saved!
