Jessie's Platform
Fundraising is a general name that I have given to "lowering the cost of the conventions." Everyone should be able to enjoy the conventions. Now, however, they are too expensive for many hard-working high school students. I know that through grant writing and private donations, the financial burden of each trip can be reduced. For example, I have found a private donor to pay for the busses from Ohio to Washington, D.C. for Winter Congress. Next year, there will be money set aside in the ORV fund to pay for those buses. If more money comes from grants and private donors, less money will come from YOUR pocket! Expansion of the ORV will add a lot to the region. More JSA members will mean more thoughts and ideas introduced to the conventions. By continuing the expansion goals set this year and adding new incentives (such as rewards for the chapter that can double its size...) the Ohio River Valley will inevitably grow! Also, if the conventions are less expensive, more people will be able to attend as a direct result. The minor points of my platform include a large cabinet, an online Muckraker, online registration forms, more special activities, and a regional T-shirt. I hope that I have presented some innovative ideas. I established my platform with a grassroots attitude; I thought about the issues that concern me about JSA, on both a regional and a chapter level.
