Spooky Tooth was formed in 1967 as an offshoot of the group Art who released a single album "Supernatural Fairy Tales". When keyboard player and songwriter Gary Wright joined in 1967 the group they changed its name to Spooky Tooth. Same year they released their first album "It's All About" on Island Records. The group had several personnel changes during the first 7-8 years, and more times the group disbanded. The group they reformed in 1997 and released a single album more in 1999.
Key Band Members:
Mike Harrison: Born 1945, vocals and keyboards. Harrison was the vocal focuspoint on all Sppoky Tooth album from Supernatural Fairy Tales in 1967 till the reformation in the 1990's. Only on "The Mirror" he was replaced by Mike Patto.
Gary Wright: Born 1943, keyboard and songwriter. Wright was out of the band in 1970-73. In 2004 he rejoined the reformed band featuring only Harrison and Kellie of the early members.
Luther Grosvenor: Born 1946. Guitar. In 1973 under the pseudonym "Ariel Bender" he joined Mott the Hoople. In 1997-2000 he rejoined the reformed Spooky Tooth.
Greg Ridley: Born 1947, bass. Ridley is only present on the first 3 albums, as he in 1969 was joining Humble Pie.
Mike Kellie: Born 1947, drums. Kellie was out of the band in 1972-73 and again in 1974.
Henry McCulloch: Born 1943, guitar. McCulloch is only present on "The Last Puff". Later he worked with McCartney's Wings.
Chris Stainton: Born 1943, keyboards. Joined in 1970 but was soon out of the group again on featured on "The Last Puff"
Mick Jones: Born 1944, Guitars. Joined in 1972 and was with the group until the split in the mid 1970's.
