The Format

The clubs participating at several phases of the Turkish Cup are decided by the final standings of the last year's league games.
The clubs of Turkish 1.Super League and Turkish 2.League - Category A teams qualify to the cup automatically.
The top four Clubs of the 2.League - Category B also qualify, but no Turkish 3.League clubs are invited.

Round 1

17 ties
15 clubs of last year's 1.Super League clubs (Clubs also playing at 1.Super League this year) are seeded bye for the round.
The rest (33) of the 48 clubs play Round 1. One club draws bye, since the number of clubs participating is an odd number. 16 Round 1 winners and the club which drew bye proceeds to Round 2.

If a game ends at a tie, then extra 30 minutes will pe played with the "Silver Goal" rule. If the tie is still not broken after the extra time, then the penalty shoot-out will decide the winner.
