This research is devoted to the ancestry of those Thomas's who settled in Anson County and later spread across the counties of Mecklenburg, Richmond, Stanly, Union, and beyond. The focus is on two distinct Thomas families. The first are the descendants of Stephen Thomas from Kent County Maryland to now Richmond County NC. The second is that of Benjamin Thomas who lived on the banks of Richardson's Creek in now Union County. It has always been believed that this Benjamin was the son of Stephen. A large portion of this site documents a new understanding of who Benjamin really was.
Many of the Thomas's moved into Stanly County and married families there. Some of the Stanly county names repesented in this site are as follows:
