7-8pm -- Ax Men - Road to Season 2
As logging's toughest season begins, the Ax Men meet face-to-face to carve out
this year's stakes. Pihl and J.M. Browning Logging return, but they'll face
stiff competition from three new crews. Rygaard Logging, R&R Conner Aviation
and S&S Underwater Logging take the job to new extremes--wrestling timber from
Mother Nature's clutches by land, sea and even helicopter. The men of the
mountain will battle each other and attempt to conquer the most forbidding land
in America. Not all will survive, but those who do will earn the title... Ax Men.

8-10pm -- Nostradamus: 2012 -
Whatever is in store--a massive cosmic collision, a global environmental
disaster, an Armageddon-like religious showdown, or a more subtle transformation
--many believe that December 21, 2012 will mark a major shift in the history of
our planet. There is no cogent distinction between the sobering facts and
hysterical fiction--what, if any, modern scientific proof exists? Is there any
other compelling evidence throughout history that 2012 will be a year of
unprecedented, deadly upheaval? This special looks for the parallels between the
nightmarish daily headlines and the 2012 prophecies from Nostradamus and others.
From the mystical realms of the Guatemalan jungles to the Hopi elders and Mayan
shaman to respected thinkers of the modern age--Nostradamus' doomsday warning
will be cast in a frighteningly modern context.

10-12am -- Seven Signs of the Apocalypse -
The Seven Signs are clear: We will be struck by deadly plagues, famines and
earthquakes... The sky will turn dark and oceans will turn to blood... And the
antichrist will emerge to fight the final battle between good and evil. Could
this all be true? Experts decode this powerful prophecy and come to a startling
conclusion: there is now scientific evidence that many of these catastrophes
could, in fact, be occurring. A star falling from the sky could be one of
thousands of rogue asteroids that may be approaching earth. The plague foretold
in the Bible could be a deadly strain of avian virus that researchers fear
could kill millions. Oceans turning blood red could be triggered by
microorganisms that release dangerous neurotoxins that have the same effect as
nerve gas. To reveal the ultimate truth behind the prophecy, this investigation
will turn to the past to reveal why the prophecy was written, and why it keeps
such a powerful hold on our imagination today.

7-8pm -- Star Wars Tech -
Take a look at the technology shown throughout the six Star Wars films and
examine their viability through the eyes of cold hard science. Could a Death
Star really be built? Can you build an army of clones? What is 3-D imaging,
and where the can you get a Light Saber? Travel to a galaxy far, far away to
answer all of these questions and more.

8-9pm -- Gangland - Blood Oath
9-10pm -- Gangland - Kill 'Em All
A gritty, true-life series exposing the world of history's most notorious and
dangerous gangs.

10-11pm -- Ax Men - 14 - Ax Men Cometh
As dawn breaks over the Pacific Northwest, this year's Ax Men prepare for the
battle that lies ahead. Behind every turn, danger lurks. To survive, they must
escape falling trees and bone-crushing machinery, face impossible deadlines
and the worst weather Mother Nature can throw at them. Returning from last
season is J.M. Browning, last year's log count winner, and Pihl Logging,
unruly but true-blue lifetime loggers. Adding to the competition this year
will be two new companies--Washington-based newcomers Rygaard Logging, a fiery
father-son team, and S&S Aqua Logging, a team of diving loggers who fish for
timber in some of the Pacific Northwest's most treacherous waters.

7-8pm -- Batman Tech -
Since his debut in DC Comics in 1939, Batman has dazzled readers with an
amazing array of bat gadgets. Viewers will go deep inside the Batcave to
examine these incredible tools--many of them inspired by amazing real-life
military developments. Discover just how close they come to real-life
technology.

8-9pm -- How the Earth Was Made - San Andreas Fault
The San Andreas Fault runs roughly 800 miles through some of the most
valuable real estate in the world. The southern section hasn't had a
significant quake for over 300 years and is now primed and ready for another
"big one." This new series takes a trip along the most famous fault line in
the world and examine the geology that gives it its immense destructive
power. It's an investigation given new urgency by recent warnings from 300
of America's leading scientists about the death and devastation that a major
earthquake on the fault could unleash on Los Angeles.

9-10pm -- How the Earth Was Made - Loch Ness
Home to the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, this lake holds more water than
any other lake in Britain. It's only 10,000 years old, but billions of years
in the making. Trace the extraordinary story of Loch Ness: from the three
billion year old bedrock of Northern Scotland, to the giant glaciers that
carved out the Loch. On this incredible journey we reveal that Loch Ness was
once part of America, giant dinosaurs, suspiciously similar to the fabled
monster once roamed the area, and that the entire region was engulfed by
huge volcanic eruptions as Scotland was ripped from its birth place on the
American continent. Could the mythical Loch Ness monster be a descendant of
the dinosaurs, somehow surviving in the murky waters of the loch?

10-11pm -- The Universe - Parallel Universes
Some of the world's leading physicists believe they have found startling new
evidence showing the existence of universes other than our own. One
possibility is that the universe is so vast that an exact replica of our
Solar System, our planet and ourselves exists many times over. These
Doppelganger Universes exist within our own Universe; in what scientist now
call "The Multiverse." Today, trailblazing experiments by state of the art
particle colliders are looking for evidence of higher dimensions and
Parallel Universes. If proof is found, it will change our lives, our minds,
our planet, our science and our universe.

10-12am -- Hillbilly: The Real Story -
The two-hour special, hosted by celebrity Billy Ray Cyrus, brings these
mythic people to life through stories that span 300 years. Outcast
immigrants, war heroes, isolated backwoodsmen, hard working miners, fast
moving moon shiners, religious warriors, musicians and statesmen make up the
rugged cast of characters.

7-8pm -- Spider-Man Tech -
The Marvel Comics creation of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, may be the most
amazing crime fighter of all time. Who wouldn't want to have his amazing
powers--but if Spider-Man's abilities are put to the test using the rules of
real-world science, exactly which of his skills are possible and which are
pure fantasy? Go on a thrill-ride of adventure as top Hollywood filmmakers,
and real-world scientists weigh in on Spider-Man's dazzling powers. Using
highlights from the blockbuster Spider-Man movies, including scenes from the
upcoming Spider-Man 3, along with classic comic book images that leap off
the screen thanks to 3-D graphic effects, Spidey's secrets are unlocked.

8-9pm -- MonsterQuest - Swamp Stalker
In the marshy swamp land of Texarkana a legendary beast has hunted the
residents of a small Arkansas town. Their story was immortalized in a well
known movie, The Legend of Boggy Creek. The real events were a series of
violent nocturnal attacks that left behind not only fear and panic, but also
remarkable tracks. But the evidence is not just confined to history.
Scientific clues continue to this day, and point to a malevolent monster
that stalks the Deep South, with physical encounters by trained trackers and
discoveries of tracks and scat. The strongest evidence will be examined
using the latest scientific testing and two MonsterQuest teams isolate the
search area using both kayaks and horse-back, penetrating deep into
territory that may be the home of the swamp stalker.

8-9pm -- The States - 01 [Bio Channel only]
California, North Carolina, Kansas, New Hampshire, West Virginia
Take a history lesson filled with surprising facts, figures and stories from
five American states. In California, see how the discovery of gold at
Sutter's Mill, in 1848 started the largest migration in US history, and then
learn how scientists are currently trying to predict the next big earthquake.
Next it's off to North Carolina's tobacco fields and the mystery of Roanoke--
the lost colony. Wichita, Kansas is the "Aviation Capital of America" and
Wyatt Earp put Dodge City on the map. New Hampshire is the state where the
first act of open rebellion in America's Revolutionary War took place and the
first presidential primary each election season is held. Finally, learn about
The Battle of Blair Mountain, West Virginia, where in 1921, over 10,000
unionizing coal miners faced off with state and federal troops in what was
one of the largest armed uprisings in America since the Civil War.

9-10pm -- MonsterQuest - Gators in the Sewers
What if one of the most famous and terrifying urban legends was not a legend
but a frightening fact? History tells us that Alligators lurking around in
the sewers of New York City is based in truth. In the mid 1930s three
teenagers pulled an eight-foot alligator from a storm drain. Reports
persisted until a skeptical Superintendant of Sewers, Teddy May, was forced
to investigate for himself. What May found shocked even him--swarms of
alligators alive beneath the busy main street of America's biggest city.
Crews were sent in to kill the deadly reptiles, but the stories of the
gators in the sewers lived on. Experts, however, are divided over whether it
is scientifically possible for alligators to continue to exist in the sewers,
so a MonsterQuest team sets out to search for modern evidence of these
monsters and prove that they could not only survive but also thrive.

9-10pm -- The States - 02 [Bio Channel only]
Texas, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Iowa, Delaware
Another history lesson filled with surprising facts, figures and stories
from five American states. Texas hit the jackpot in 1901 with the discovery
of oil at Spindletop Well in Beaumont. Puritans came to Massachusetts to
escape religious persecution, but their own zeal to convert Native Americans
led to one of the bloodiest wars in US history. Arkansas, 1957--nine African
American high school students attempted to enroll at Little Rock's Central
High School and made Civil Rights history. During the Iowa Caucuses farmers
rub elbows with would-be presidents. Finally, Delaware patriot Caesar Rodney
rode into history in 1776 when he raced 80 miles on horseback to break the
deadlocked vote for American independence.

10-11pm -- UFO Hunters - Alien Fallout
On December 29, 1980, Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum and Colby Landrum took a
drive that would soon become a life-changing nightmare. At approximately 9pm,
driving through the Piney Woods of Texas, they observed a huge diamond-
shaped object flying low above the isolated road, expelling flame and
emitting significant heat. That night, all three experienced horrible
physical symptoms--nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and burning
sensations all over their bodies. Betty Cash's symptoms soon worsened, and a
few days later, she was sent to the emergency room, unable to walk, and
losing large patches of skin and clumps of hair. The team re-opens this and
other famous cases of alleged "alien effects" to determine if UFOs are
leaving behind more than just sightings.

7-8pm -- Star Trek Tech -
For forty years Star Trek has engulfed our imagination and sent us on
voyages across the galaxy. We'll take a look at the technology behind the
gadgets used in the series such as phasers and communicators, and tell their
stories from the people who knew them best--the actors, producers and
prop men.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - The Butcher.
In a carnivorous world, a butcher is a necessary link in the food chain,
carving a carcass of unsavory flesh into mouthwatering cuts. We trace the
grisly trade's evolution--from yesteryear's butcher-on-every-corner to
today's industrial butcher working on a "disassembly" line. We tour the
infamous remains of the Chicago Stockyards, where Upton Sinclair, Clarence
Birdseye, and refrigeration changed butchering forever; witness high-speed
butchering; and travel to a non-stop sausage factory. And if you're still
squeamish, a USDA inspector offers the lowdown on HACCP--the country's new
system of checks and balances on everything from quality grading to E. coli,
Salmonella, and Mad Cow Disease. Finally, we visit the last bastion of old-
school butchering--the rural custom butcher, who slaughters, eviscerates,
skins, and cuts to his customer's wishes.

8-10pm -- 1968 with Tom Brokaw [Bio Channel only]
In 1968, the fury and violence of the Democratic National Convention in
Chicago propelled us toward a tipping point in politics. Martin Luther King
Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated, America suffered its bloodiest
year in Vietnam and drugs seduced us. Yet idealism--and hope--flourished.
Explore the significance of that turbulent year and the way it continues to
affect the American landscape. Tom Brokaw offers his perspective on the era
and shares the rich personal odysseys of some of the people who lived
through that chaotic time, along with the stories of younger people now
experiencing its aftershocks. Includes archival footage and interviews with
former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, who was talking to King when he was
assassinated and rushed to his side to try to staunch the wound; Olympic
gold medalist Rafer Johnson, who wrestled RFKs' assassin to the ground; and
Arlo Guthrie, best known for his song "Alice's Restaurant.

9-10pm -- Gangland: Aryan Brotherhood -
The Aryan Brotherhood has the distinction of being the deadliest gang in
American history. They kill for hire or for free. They kill people who
steal their drugs or those that owe them money. Maintaining the culture of
terror that has solidified their power is their primary goal. Drugs,
gambling, liquor and inmate prostitution earns them millions. From their
beginnings in San Quentin Prison in 1964 to current trials of sixteen
members in Los Angeles, discover the ultra-violent world that has largely
gone unnoticed by the general public for the last forty years.

10-11pm -- Ax Men - 14 - Ax Men Cometh
As dawn breaks over the Pacific Northwest, this year's Ax Men prepare for
the battle that lies ahead. Behind every turn, danger lurks. To survive,
they must escape falling trees and bone-crushing machinery, face impossible
deadlines and the worst weather Mother Nature can throw at them. Returning

loggers who fish for timber in some of the Pacific Northwest's most
treacherous waters.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Commercial Fishing.
Battered and fried or simply raw--seafood is a popular dish, no matter how
you serve it. Americans consume more than 5-billion pounds yearly, an order
that takes more than a fishing rod to fill and worries conservationists. We
follow the fish, the fishermen, and the science trying to preserve fisheries
for future generations--from ancient ships on the Nile to a modern
technologically sophisticated factory trawler on the Bering Sea to the
University of New Hampshire's open-ocean aquaculture research project. And
we witness a wide variety of fishing methods--from gillnetting and long-
lining to lobster trapping. Hop aboard and sail through time and around the
globe as we explore the harsh conditions of life at sea and experience
firsthand one of history's deadliest jobs. Brace yourself and feel the ice-
cold, salt spray on your face as we explore commercial fishing!

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Super Human
Do normal humans actually possess the ability to have super powers? In Utah,
see how a man can strap on an exoskeleton and lift hundreds of pounds with
virtually no effort. In England, visit "Mr. Cyborg," a man with the ability
to control machines with merely a thought. In California, see a man glide
through the sky like Superman, then it's off to Atlanta, Georgia to see how
engineers have found a way to help people glide through the water like
Aquaman. Learn how scientists at the University of Texas are building
artificial muscles that are 400 times stronger than our own, and in Las
Vegas, strap on velocity motion stilts for a little bionic high jumping and
high speed running.

9-11pm -- 70's Fever -
If the 1960s represented peace, love, and the "We Generation", then the
1970s came to represent the pleasure seeking excesses of the "Me Generation."
The 1970s were a decade when cocaine was king, a President fell in disgrace,
homegrown terrorist groups prowled the streets and all-night parties raged in
Studio 54--all while neighborhoods burned and the Son of Sam hunted. And yet
it was a time of renewed liberties, and huge technological leaps when 2 kids
named Steve built a machine in their Silicon Valley garage that changed the
world. Using rare footage and a period soundtrack, this special deconstructs
the 1970s, from Watergate to Studio 54. It evokes nostalgia and challenges it,
exploring the dark side of the decade's cult leaders, sexual liberation and
disco scene.

7-8pm -- UFO Hunters - Military vs. UFOs
In 1956, an object was detected over the North Sea heading toward Bentwaters
RAF base--a base with nuclear weapons. Two Venom fighters made contact with
the object, but their weapons and electrical systems were rendered useless.
Both ground crew and base radar witnessed the event. In January 1980, British
and American soldiers stationed at NATO/RAF bases near Rendlesham Forest
observed a mysterious object in the sky. Listen to a dramatic audio recording
of the event made by USAF Colonel Charles Halt. Was there a cover-up about
these events involving the military and intelligence agencies? Former British
Minister of Defense spokesman Nick Pope will provide the British government's
response. Hear eyewitness accounts and see footage that has never been seen
on television that piece together compelling evidence of UFO phenomena.

8-10pm -- Einstein -
Albert Einstein's revolutionary theory that turned the world upside down
might have been dismissed but for a math mistake, a cloudy sky, and the start
of World War I. This fascinating two-hour special tells the story of
Einstein's little-known, 15-year struggle to prove one of his most radical
theories -- a theory that upended Newton and three centuries of scientific
thought and called into question the definitions of space and light and
gravity -- the game-changing concept known as the Theory of General
Relativity. Today, more than a century since the "Miracle Year" in which he
published many of his breakthrough papers, Einstein's ideas remain a living,
vibrant influence. They continue to push scientists farther, and deeper, into
the universe than even he could have imagined.

10-11:58pm -- The Universe - Beyond the Big Bang
The universe began with a massive expansion, billions and billions of years
ago, and it continues to expand with every passing second. The idea that the
universe, and man's very existence, began with a "Big Bang" is no longer a
topic of debate among most scientists--it is essentially taken as fact. How
has man come to this conclusion, and how has our knowledge evolved so that we
can recreate the very first seconds of our universe and all that has
developed since? Interviews with the world's leading physicists and
historians are woven together with animated recreations and first-person
accounts to explain concepts such as the formation of galaxies, the creation
of elements and the formation of Earth itself.

7-8pm -- Gangland - Murder by Numbers
A gritty, true-life series exposing the world of history's most notorious and
dangerous gangs.

8-9pm -- The Bielski Brothers [Bio Channel only]
Living in the Soviet Republic of Belorussia during World War II, Tuvia, Asael
and Zus Bielski saved more than twelve-hundred of their fellow Jews from
perishing in the Holocaust, yet their story has largely gone untold. The
Bielski's built an elaborate village in the woods, from which they rescued
Jews and mounted guerilla attacks against the Nazis. Their forest haven
included a gun workshop, a bakery, a synagogue, a communal bath and even a
theater company. Containing interviews with Bielski Brigade survivors in the
United States, Israel and Great Britain, we proudly pay tribute to three of
the greatest unsung heroes of the Holocaust.

8-10pm -- Ancient Aliens -
What if life on Earth began in outer space? Millions of people accept the
theory that intelligent life forms visited Earth thousands of years ago and
were worshiped as gods by primitive man. Are monuments like Stonehenge and
Easter Island the last remains of an ancient alien visitation? From
unexplainable super structures, to knowledge of the solar system,
mathematics, and even the ability to make electricity, this special explores
evidence of super-human influences on ancient man and embarks on an around-
the-world search for answers. It's an investigation into a theory some
believe cannot be true, but many agree cannot be ignored. (New 2009 special)

Returning
from last season is J.M. Browning, last year's log count winner, and Pihl
Logging, unruly but true-blue lifetime loggers. Adding to the competition
this year will be two new companies--Washington-based newcomers Rygaard

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Alaskan Fishing
The Alaska Ocean is the largest factory-fishing boat in the US fleet. The
crew's mission: hunt down, catch and process 300 tons of Alaskan Pollock each
day on the unforgiving waters of the Bering Sea. We travel with them on the
last voyage of a long and grueling season. The crew reveals the inner workings
of one of the most sophisticated and complex vessels afloat. It is half
fishing boat, half floating factory, processing and flash freezing Alaskan
Pollock as fast as its crew can catch it. To meet their seasonal quota of
Pollock, the crew must overcome obstacles of weather, mechanical dangers
aboard the sea-tossed ship and the wiliness of the fish themselves. Captain
Scott Symonds takes us inside the amazing ultra-modern world of high stakes
commercial fishing where a wrong decision on his part can cost not just the
season's catch, but also the lives of his crew.

8-9pm -- Ax Men - Road to Season 2
As logging's toughest season begins, the Ax Men meet face-to-face to carve out
this year's stakes. Pihl and J.M. Browning Logging return, but they'll face
stiff competition from three new crews. Rygaard Logging, R&R Conner Aviation

Mother Nature's clutches by land, sea and even helicopter. The men of the
mountain will battle each other and attempt to conquer the most forbidding
land in America. Not all will survive, but those who do will earn the title...
Ax Men.

9-10pm -- Battles BC - Hannibal: The Annihilator
Hannibal's merciless attacks on Roman soil dealt a near fatal blow to the soon-
to-be Empire. Sworn by his father to a blood oath against the Romans, Hannibal
of Carthage does the unthinkable... he marches 40 war elephants and a massive
army over the Alps to gain an element of surprise. In three key battles--
Hannibal uses terrain, intimidation and his iron will to annihilate the Roman
Legions, killing every Roman soldier that he possibly can.

the Pacific Northwest's most treacherous waters.

10-11pm -- Ax Men - 15 - Initiation Day
The battle has just begun--and already, men are bowing out of the race.
Rygaard's greenhorn struggles to earn the respect of his crew, while Jay
Browning's $30,000 gamble on new equipment craps out. Aqua logger, Jimmy Smith
and his new deckhand, son James, try to reel in the log of their lives. And one
of the mountain's most beloved Ax Men will hang up his saw for good.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Environmental Tech II
Take a look at the innovations designed to hold off a global warming meltdown.
Visit giant solar energy towers in Spain, install a rooftop wind turbine and
ride in a car that runs on air. Will a daring attempt to remove carbon dioxide
from our atmosphere by dumping iron in the ocean really work? Discover how
everyone can go green with the flick of a switch.

8-9pm -- How the Earth Was Made - The Deepest Place on Earth
The Marianas Trench is the deepest place on earth, deeper than Mt. Everest is
high. The trench is where the ocean floor disappears into the center of the
earth. The pressures at this depth are 17 times greater than what it takes to
crush a nuclear submarine. Only two men have ever been down the Trench, fewer
than have set foot on the moon. Follow the daring missions into the abyss and
explore the extraordinary geology that has created this deep scar along the
ocean floor.

9-10pm -- How the Earth Was Made - New York
It is one of the most man-made spaces on the planet, but everything in New York
from the height of the skyscrapers to the way the subway was constructed to the
position of the harbor is governed by the extraordinary forces that ultimately
shaped this city. You can tell the geology of Manhattan at a glance by looking
at the skyline. The skyscrapers of Midtown and Downtown are built on hard
granite; the low-rise buildings in between are built on a soft, gravelly soil
left over from the Ice Age. Learn how New Jersey and North Africa were
neighbors 250 million years ago, how the rocks New York are built on are the
remains of mountains that 450 million years ago were as tall as the Himalayas,
and how Long Island is covered in rubble that remained as ice sheets retreated
10,000 years ago.

10-11pm -- The Universe - Stopping Armageddon
It sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster: a deadly asteroid is on a collision
course with Earth. But in reality, it's only a matter of time before a giant
space rock threatens to wipe out civilization. An asteroid took out the
dinosaurs sixty-five million years ago. Are we next? This episode analyzes the
threat and explores the many ways--from a nuclear bomb to ingenious new
technology--that experts are proposing to stop Armageddon.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Water.
It's nature's precious elixir--so powerful it can carve our landscape, yet so
nurturing it can spawn life and support its intricate matrix. And it's the only
substance on Earth that can exist in three separate forms at the same
temperature--liquid, solid, and gas. We take it for granted, yet compared to
other natural compounds, it's a genuine oddity. We'll paint a vivid portrait of
this common entity that's anything but as we explore water's multidimensional
character--from its place in the $10-billion bottled water industry to its
critical role in a Canadian nuclear reactor. We watch it flow from huge
irrigation machines that have revolutionized American agriculture, blast 200
miles into space from a newly discovered geyser on one of Saturn's moons (via
computer animation), coaxed from the clouds by chemical injection, captured by
innovative "fog-catchers", and cascade with artistic flair from compressed air
jets at the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas.

8-9pm -- MonsterQuest - Devils in New Jersey
For over 250 years a frightening winged beast has been menacing the residents
of New Jersey. The Jersey Devil is described as a winged half-bird half-horse,
with hoofed feet and reptilian tail and a penetrating scream that echoes
through the forests of New Jersey's Pine Barrens. During one phenomenal week,
over a thousand individuals were terrorized: a trolley car was attacked,
schools were closed and panic gripped the area. Wildlife experts claim however,
that misidentification with a known animal may be responsible for the
encounters, but recent witnesses who see the beast are scared for their lives--
and say the scientific evidence will prove there is a monster. MonsterQuest
launches an unprecedented expedition for the Jersey Devil and sends sixty men
into the forbidding forest while detectives meet the witnesses to discover the
truth behind the Jersey Devil.

9-10pm -- MonsterQuest - Snowbeast Slaughter
High in the rugged wilderness of Colorado's Rocky Mountains a large hairy
creature is said to be preying on the elk and frightening residents. The
stories date back centuries with the earliest settlers describing terrifying
encounters with a large beast whose scream bellows across the hills. Even today
ranchers and hikers report a monster they can't explain that may be attacking
their horses. MonsterQuest will sift through the evidence and determine what
may be killing the elk. The aerial search ascends to 11,000 ft in search of
fresh evidence that could lead to the creature; as the ground team scales the
side of Pikes Peak to hunt for the legendary Snowbeast.

10-11pm -- UFO Hunters - Lost UFO Files
What secrets lay buried in the never-before-seen files of a famous UFO
investigator? In the early 1950s, James McDonald, a senior physicist at the
University of Arizona, changed the entire course of UFO research. For nearly 20
years he examined UFO reports in great detail--interviewing over 500 witnesses,
uncovering important government documents, and testifying before Congress in
1968. He challenged skeptics, performed scientific analysis, and led the charge
for UFOs to be properly studied. After his tragic death in 1971, his
investigations and files were sent to the University archives, where they lay
dormant...until now. The team brings these lost UFO files back into the public
eye for the first time on television, and looks at evidence long thought lost
to history.

What May found shocked even him--swarms of alligators alive beneath the busy main street of America's biggest city. Crews were sent in to kill the deadly reptiles, but the stories of the gators in the sewers lived on. Experts, however, are divided over whether it is scientifically possible for alligators to continue to exist in the sewers, so a MonsterQuest team sets out to search for modern evidence of these monsters and prove that they could not only survive but also thrive.

9-10pm -- MonsterQuest - Mega Jaws
Sharks have terrified people for centuries and deep within the forbidding waters of Mexico's Baja Peninsula may lurk a mammoth sixty foot monster. Marine experts claim these giants went extinct, but evidence may challenge that. Meanwhile, frightened Mexican fisherman talk of being stalked by a "Black Demon"; and sailors report close collisions with a shark unlike anything that they have encountered before. In a search for answers, MonsterQuest uses a combined air and sea search for this monster shark that may be prowling the last unexplored frontier of our planet.

8-10pm -- Stealing Lincoln's Body -
Before Lincoln finally came to rest in a steel-and-concrete-reinforced underground vault in Springfield, the President's body was repeatedly exhumed and moved, his coffin frequently opened. In 1876, eleven years after Abraham Lincoln's assassination, a band of Chicago counterfeiters plotted to steal Lincoln's body and hold it for ransom. Their plan was to demand $200,000 and the release of the gang's master engraver, who was in prison in Illinois. The Secret Service--recently formed to deal with the country's ballooning counterfeiting problem--infiltrated the gang with an informer. It also set in motion a cringe-inducing chain of events in which a group of well-intentioned, self-appointed guardians took it upon themselves to protect Lincoln's remains by any means necessary. 7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Night
Some activities only occur when the world is dark. We stay up late off the coast of California to hunt some slippery and slimy nocturnal creatures: squid by the tens of thousands. Fishermen show us how they lure them into their net by mesmerizing them with the boat's powerful lights. We also visit Toronto, Canada, the self proclaimed "worm capitol of the world", where an army of pickers pluck countless night crawlers emerging from their burrows. In Tennessee, we put a night vision lens on our camera to capture the action as military trainees try their hand at the latest night vision gear. And we'll experience how hard it is to evade a police helicopter's blindingly bright Spectrolab spotlight, or powerful noses and sharp teeth when the cops deploy their K-9 units. For some after hours fun, we'll see how more than six hundred, 2,000 watt lights can turn night into day inside the Pittsburgh Pirates' new state-of-the-art stadium.

8-9pm -- How the Earth Was Made - Driest Place on Earth
The Atacama desert is considered the driest place on Earth. Since human records of the area began, some places have never received rain. 9-10pm -- How the Earth Was Made - Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park is one of the most dangerous geological features on Earth. In trying to uncover the processes behind Yellowstone's main attractions like "Old Faithful," geologists came to the frightening realization that Yellowstone was in fact a vast hidden super-volcano--one that is overdue for a massive eruption. Yellowstone has been on a regular eruption cycle of 600,000 years but the last eruption was over 640,000 years ago, so the next is overdue. An eruption at Yellowstone could be 2,500 times the size of the 1980 Mount St. Helens event. In the past 16.5 million years, the volcano has mysteriously moved hundreds of miles though Nevada across southern Idaho to reach its present location in Yellowstone. But even today it is still active. A swarm of 500 earthquakes hit the park early in 2009 and geologists found that the entire park is being pushed up into the air by hidden forces under the ground. Is this sleeping giant beginning to stir?

We used to think that Earth was at the center of the universe, but now we know we're not even at the center of our own galaxy. Countless wonders exist between where earth is situated and the massive black hole at the galactic center of our solar system. Within the Milky Way can be found the debris of old, dying stars fueling the birth of new stars and at the galactic center hypervelocity stars get catapulted clear beyond the Milky Way's outer rim at unimaginable speeds. Come along for a guided tour of 100,000 light-year-wide family of stars and stellar phenomena we call The Milky Way.

Good Morning, Mr. Bond

Episodes of the quirky Northern Exposure are on Hallmark Channel. And episodes of the even quirkier "Twin Peaks" are sometimes on Bravo. Monstervision review & host segments of the Twin Peaks movie "Firewalk With Me."

Fun fact:
Griffith Park Observatory According to Ripley's Believe It Or Not, the 800-mile long Aruwimi River, which flows through the Aruwimi Forest in the Congo, was unwittingly named by famous explorer David Livingstone. He asked a native what the name of the river was. The native replied "Aruwimi," which means, "What is he saying?"

In 1942, Adolf Hitler inherited 9,000 acres of grazing land in Colorado from German relatives. The PT Boat of WW2 was based on a blueprint from Andrew Higgins, a bootlegger who had used the speedboat design for rumrunning during Prohibition. And Arlington National Cemetery has four Tomb Of The Unknown Soldiers (WW1, WW2, Korea & Vietnam) but only 3 bodies: identification processes have become so good that all remains returned from Vietnam are eventually identified!

In 1963, ventriloquist Paul Winchell was awarded a patent for the first successful artificial heart. The plastic heart was first tested on a calf, which lived 94 days.

"I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you're born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you're fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things." Douglas Adams (1952-2001, Hitchhhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
