In 1999 Edward Herrmann won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest in a Drama Series as Attorney Anderson Pearson in ABC's "The Practice"

The following is a transcript of his acceptance speech:

"I did not leave my notes in the limousine because I didn't have any. I had absolutely no idea I'd be up here. So, first things first. I want to thank my family who believed in me: my wonderful wife, Star, my wonderful son, Rory, who's the greatest chef in the world, my beautiful daughter, Ryen, who's the best dancer, and my beautiful daughter, Emma, who's the best three-year-old.

What can I say about David Kelley and the cast of "The Practice"? It's a privilege to work with them and I'll cut this short: they are the best. All I can say...thank you, Dylan and Kelli and Steve and everybody.

I'll only close by quoting Mo Stapleton when she got her Oscar: 'I'd like to thank everybody I ever met!'"

Michael Badalucco, left, and Edward Herrmann, right, kiss Holland Taylor after they all won awards for "The Practice" at the 51st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999. Badalucco and Holland won Emmys for best supporting actor and best supporting actress in a drama series while Herrmann won for best guest actor in a drama series.
