ATO Goals
ATO's main goals :
- Encouragement of cooperation and exchange of expertise among Arab towns.
- Raising the standard of municipal services and utilities in Arab towns.
- Preservation of the character and heritage of Arab towns.
- Adoption of comprehensive planning that will ensure that towns activities, services, and development emanate from their social, economic, environmental and cultural features.
- Development and modernization of municipal and local government institutions and legislation.
- Providing financial loans for member towns to assist them in implementing their developmental projects.
Means to achieve these aims :
- Holding conferences and seminars to examine and discuss matters of concern to Arab municipalities and propose solutions.
- Holding training courses for developing the skills and capabilities of member municipalities.
- Exchange of research papers, studies and experience pertaining to municipal affairs among member towns.
- Exchange of visits between representatives of Arab towns with the objective of acquainting them with each other's municipal activities to encourage further social and cultural interaction among the various sections of these towns.
- Providing soft loans for member towns.
- Issuing a periodical concerned mostly with subjects pertaining to municipal activities and affairs of all member towns.
- ATO cooperates with the Arab League and its affiliate organizations as well as other institutions and official authorities, through the exchange of research studies and expertise in all fields that may render service to the Arab town.
