The next morning, Kevin and I went to the police station to report what happened the night before.
"I want her to have more protection," I heard Kevin tell detective Edmunston. Kevin made me wait in a chair outside detective Edmunston's office while he went in and talked to him.
"Sir, I'm not sure we can spare any officers," Edmunston answered.
"He called my apartment last night when I wasn't there. He knew I wasn't there, that she was there alone. He told her it wasn't over. And I'm afraid that I won't always be there for her. And I don't ever want her to be alone, not for one minute. Not while he's still out there."
"Ok, ok, I'll get two officers for her protection." He proceeded to walk out, then I stood up. He looked around the station, then said, "Parker, Lewis. Come into my office. I have an assignment for you."
Two men stood up from the desks they were sitting at and walked over to where we were and into the office.
"I'm gonna show them the file, you wait here," he told us once the two officers were inside his office. He walked in and closed the door behind him.
After a few minutes, the three of them walked out of the office. Then Edmunston introduced them to Kevin and me.
The four of us proceeded to walk outside. Kevin and I walked to his car, while the officers walked to theirs. They then followed us back to Kevin's apartment.
"Would you gentlemen like some coffee?" I asked the officers, once we arrived.
"Yes, ma'am, that would be nice," officer Parker answered.
"Oh, call me Amanda. C'mon up and I'll fix some," I said.
The two of them got out of the car and followed Kevin and me upstairs.
"Officer Parker, Officer Lewis, would you like cream or sugar?" I offered.
"No thank you. And call me Greg," Officer Lewis responded.
"I'd like some cream please. And you can call me Erik," Officer Parker answered.
The four of us talked for a few minutes. The officers assured us, especially Kevin, that everything would be alright. They'd be right downstairs if we needed anything. And that Andrew would be caught.
