When I woke up the next morning, Kevin was still with me. He was already awake. I turned my head and looked up at him.
"Mornin'," Kevin greeted.
"Good morning." I smiled. "How long have you been awake?"
"Oh, not long."
"Then what have you been doing?"
"Just watching you sleep." He smiled. "Would you like some breakfast?"
"Sure, I'll have a little. But then I have to get ready for class."
"Ok, I'll take you."
I sat up and looked at him. "Kevin, you can't be with me every second."
"I know that. But I'm going to be with you as much as I can. And if I can't, then I'll make sure you're not alone. I don't want anything to happen to you again."
"Why are you so good to me?"
"Because I..." He paused. "I care about you. Now, why don't you go shower while I make breakfast."
"Thanks, Kevin, I really appreciate all of this. I know I may not seem like I appreciate it or act like I do, but I do. I really do. Thank you." I gave him a kiss on the cheek, then went to shower.
After I took my shower and had some breakfast, Kevin took me to class. He told me he'd pick me up after class.
When class was over, I walked out into the hall where I found Kevin waiting. Kevin saw me and started walking towards me.
"How's my girl?" he asked.
"Fine, thank you," I responded, smiling.
"Good, let's go home." We walked out to his car and went back to the apartment.
Later that night, I helped Kevin make dinner.
"I have to get something at the store real quick," Kevin said.
"I'll go get it," I suggested.
"No. I don't want you going out there by yourself."
"If you go, I'll be here by myself."
"I'd rather you be here alone, where you can lock the doors, then you be out there. So I'll be right back. Lock the door behind me."
"Ok."
About 10 minutes after Kevin left, the phone rang.
"Hello?" I said, picking up the phone.
No one answered.
"Hello?" I repeated.
Again, no answer.
"Hello?" I said once more.
"It isn't over yet," said a voice.
"What? Who is this?"
"It's not over yet, Amanda."
"Andrew?"
"Just remember, it's not over yet. And that's a promise."
Next thing I knew, the phone was no longer in my hand. Kevin was back and he had taken it from me.
"Hello? Hello?" he said. But it was too late, Andrew had already hung up. Kevin then put the phone down.
He turned to me and asked, "What'd he say? What did he say to you?"
"He told me it wasn't over yet. Kevin, it scared me. He's never sounded like that before, like he was going to do something horrible." Tears started to fall down my face. Kevin took me into his arms and held me so tight. He made feel safe again.
"It's going to be alright, Amanda. I won't let him hurt you again, trust me. And tomorrow morning, we'll go to the police, ok?" I just nodded in response.
