Next Meeting dates: January 8th & 22nd 2015 @ 1900 hrs at the FOP Lodge.

Congrats to Brother Bob Gehlhausen on winning the year end raffle for the gift certificate to Patriot Getaway's cabins in Gatlinburg!  Also congrats to Brother Jared Ramsey on being elected to the 3rd yr trustee for the lodge and to Brother Aaron Hamilton on being named 2014 Member of the Year for FOP 16!! Thank you to Brother Fred Coomes for an excellent job done as he vacates the 1st yr trustee position!!

There will be no 2nd meeting in December due to it being during Christmas week and we all will be with our loved ones.  We will resume meetings on January 08, 2015 along with starting entries for the 2015 year end raffle! The more meetings and FOP 16 sponsored events you attend, the chances you will have to win the year end raffle .. just ask Brother Bob who has been pretty much at every meeting we had in 2014 .. paid off for him!! Hope to see you at the lodge next year!!

We have launched an endeavor to put together a committee to research, design, fund raise and get put into place a memorial for fallen law enforcement and fire fighter brothers and sisters.  I have spoke with Honorary Member Judge Executive Al Mattingly who is in full support of this project and has agreed to give us an area on the Daviess Courthouse lawn for the memorial to be placed on.  I have been in law enforcement for over 19 years and have always wondered why Owensboro / Daviess County does not have anything in place to honor or even mention fallen public servants who have gave the ultimate sacrifice for this community.  I completely support and advocate the memorials for military veterans and fallen veterans, but also think those that have fallen domestically at home for their community should also be honored. This was brought before Brother Mattingly and he wholeheartedly started moving on things to assist in this vision.  There will be a public memorial place on the courthouse lawn and a private one specifically for FOP 16 located at the lodge.  You will be seeing more on this as it develops with city/county law enforcement agencies and fire departments.
