Draken!
Draken by ©Jeff Easley

Sparkly bar

Late into the night there was a knock at the door, after several long moments and several more knocks the door was opened by a still half asleep librarian. The drow stepped into the foyer without waiting for an invitation. He was lean and gaunt, his hair pale white, his skin gray as dead meat. He was dressed in flowing robes of black trimmed with silver and the librarian could see he was well armed with both a sheathed sword and a staff obviously meant for a wielder of magic.

"Its rather late for casual callers." the librarian mumbled "Come back tomorrow when the library opens."

The drow focused on him and instead moved further down the hall. "My name is Draken." the drow replied "It has come to my attention that this library contains several rare tomes of magic. I have need of these tomes and as this is the hour I feel most comfortable traveling, this is the hour I have arrived."

The  nervous librarian knew of the tomes which Draken spoke of, he also knew that these tomes were restricted to be viewed only by members of clan chaos. Hesitating he said again "The library is closed sir, but I'll be glad to direct you.......on the morrow."

The drow ignored the librarian and continued making his way down the hall now looking around as if he was at a public amusement. As he reached the first flight of stairs, the librarian trailing behind him complaining the whole way, he was suddenly surrounded by several of clan chaos's finest guards.

Never missing a step Draken continued up the stairs, angrily one of the guards grabbed the drow by his shoulder and spun him around. Draken's open hand shot out and struck the guard in the chest, several streaks of blue lightning sent the guard flying across the room where he crashed into a heap of charred flesh. The rest of the guards had now drew there swords while several chaos mages began chanting spells of there own.

Drakens sword was unsheathed within a instance, its honed blade sheering a guard neatly in two while the staff in his other hand engulfed a second guard in flames. Even as Draken was fighting so fiercly he chanted the word death field and a black haze began to emanate from his body.

For every guard the haze touched a corpse fell to the ground. This black cloud spread across the room  quickly, ending Drakens need for physical violence. The spell finally ended as it enveloped the chaos mages, there futile chants and prayers still falling from there withering lips.

The room fell silent in the aftermath, the only sound was that of the librarian running for his life down the long hallway. Draken was after him faster then thought and between one heartbeat and the librarians scream Draken was on him. A tremendous blow struck the librarian skidding on his back and Draken crouched above him with a hand to his throat.

Draken stared down in black hate upon the wimpering old man his teeth pulled back in a animal snarl as he said "I have enslaved demons, I have toppled empires, I am destined to destroy this foul universe, old fool did you dare come between me and my prize?"

Draken utters the words "qaiz ay qare" and the last thing the librarian feels is the hand upon his throat grow biterly bitingly cold.
