We were driving home on a rainy day east through Missouri, when we saw a river of blackbirds that went on and on.

We were watching Fireworks from Ciudad Juarez just before the border patrol kicked us out of the "dangerous area at night".

One hot september day driving through Nebraska we stopped to nap and stretch and sketch under the shade of some cottonwood trees. The wind blows hard over the low hills. The sound of the rustling leaves was making me feel ecstatic. There were no crows flying then, only in my imagination. I always loved to paint blackbirds They are not in the original sketch, and you cannot see windmill in the distance in this little oil painting, 4" x 5". I love Nebraska, I hope to visit as often as possible.
