What are Valleys?

nValleys are long, low areas with 2 valley walls between mountains or hills. nThey have slightly downward sloping floors, and a bottom of varying width.

Types of Valleys

There are three main types of valleys:

River plain valleys

Each type of valley is formed by erosion. Many have river channels along the valley floor. V-shaped valleys and river plain valleys are formed by flowing water. U-shaped valleys are formed by flowing ice, or glaciers.
