Los Danzantes de Aztlán A Program in Chicano and Latin American Studies, CSU Fresno

Los Danzantes de Aztlán was founded in 1970 as part of CSU Fresno's Chicano/Latin American Studies Department and is under the current Direction of Dr. Victor Torres.

Utilizing beautiful costumes and precise dance execution, the Dance Company has been a success with audiences wherever it has performed. It has made trips to Mexico and Spain throughout the years and has captivated audiences through its creative and energetic performances.

The vibrant Danzantes offer a spectacular and colorful expression of Mexican regional dances. The Dance Company consists of members majoring in such diverse areas as education, engineering, business, health science and other academic areas. Los Danzantes de Aztlán plays a very important role in fostering cultural pride and cultural appreciation both on and off-campus. The Dance Company serves as an important representative of California State University, Fresno, and as such, is the only one of its kind to be officially recognized by the California State University system.

Los Danzantes de Aztlán, Juvenil

Los Danzantes de Aztlán, Juvenil is a new and exciting children’s (ages 3-12) Mexican folkloric dance group in the Fresno, CA. The group was founded in 2004 by the Director of California State University, Fresno’s Los Danzantes de Aztlan, Dr. Victor Torres, and his wife, Sylvia Torres.

In its young existence, the troupe has already gained the admiration of audiences everywhere for its lively and colorful performances, and it has earned the respect of many for its professional presentations and staging.

This children’s group serves as the junior partner to Fresno State University’s Los Danzantes de Aztlán. The group’s motto is “Culture, Pride, and Education.”
