Ballet Folklorico Quetzales, originally founded in 1989 by a small group of talented dancers, continuously strives towards its primary goal of portraying Mexican traditions through dance.
Since its inception, Jaime Carrasco, a talented artistic director and choreographer, has led the company to its current and highly reputable status. Under his invaluable instruction, Quetzales characterizes traditional Mexican dances through a unique and creative blend of authentic intricate steps and mixed choreographies
Based in El Paso, TX, Ballet Folklorico Quetzales is in its 15th year of providing cultural entertainment and education to the local community as well as communities around the world.
Since its inception in 1989, a talented artistic director and choreographer, Jaime Carrasco, has led the company to its current and highly reputable status. Combining our gifted director’s efforts along with the talents of our many dancers, Quetzales has built a solid foundation that, throughout the years, has allowed for growth from a four couple troupe to a 46-member dance company. Throughout the year, Ballet Folklórico Quetzales performs at numerous events in the El Paso area. We have also had several yearly special appearances in the neighboring states of New Mexico and Colorado. Additionally, Quetzales has had the opportunity and privilege of enchanting audiences all over the world (Portugal, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Israel, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and Jordan) with its expressive interpretation and intricate choreographies. Our first overseas success, and the impetus for our worldwide experiences, was the participation at the Carnaval du Roy de I’Europe, in Nice, France during March of 1993.

His extensive experience includes artistic director of El Ballet Folklorico Universitario of the U.A.C.J (Univesidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez), one of the founders of La Compañia de Danza de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, and choreographer for the internationally renowned summer production, “Viva! El Paso”.
Performances
Quetzales has been entertaining audiences in El Paso, Cd. Juarez, and throughout the world. Our first taste of international travel came in 1993 when we visited Nice, France.

RESEÑA:
Se formó en el año 2001 siendo estudiantes e integrantes de la estudiantina del C.B.T.I.S. 122 a cargo del Prof. Jesús Noel torres, kristian Martínez en el bajo, David Sias en el requinto y Efrén delgado en la guitarra, con 15 años, 16 años y 17 años respectivamente.
El trío se inició con un repertorio de boleros que interpretaban en la estudiantina. Fueron invitados a amenizar una reunión familiar y de amistades el día 20 de nov del 2001, y a partir de ahí tuvieron la inquietud de formar parte del medio musical con el nombre de “TRIO JUVENTUD”.
Teniendo como gran debut el “espectacular tríos de México” evento realizado anualmente en la ciudad de Chihuahua Chih, y posteriormente, presentándose en algunos bares importantes de la ciudad: Chili’s, Las Botanas, Garufa, Casa del Dragón, Maria Chuchena, por mencionar algunos.
Al paso de 3 años tomaron la decisión de integrar un miembro mas, para así formar lo que fue “CUARTETO JUVENTUD”, ampliando su repertorio en diferentes géneros y adquiriendo prestigio en el medio. En esta nueva faceta se tuvieron logros de talla internacional representando a México en un festival de folclor en Italia y Omán tres de sus integrantes; otro logro importante fue el presentar su material musical en el Paso Tx. en varias ocasiones.
Conforme fue madurando el cuarteto, al cabo de 2 años y después de sufrir un cambio de integrante (percusionista), sintieron el deseo de modificar su estilo gracias a la influencia de música cubana sin dejar atrás la música mexicana surgiendo así “TEQUILA & RON de Chihuahua, Chihuahua.
Estando al servicio del publico con este nombre desde hace 10 meses tiempo en el cual se ha tenido presentaciones importantes como alternar, en el tradicional baile “Novias de Ingeniería” de la U.A.CH., con La Única e Internacional Sonora Santanera, además de seguir presentando su nuevo material musical en eventos como: día del niño, festival de día de muertos, entre otros en la CD de El Paso
Tx. Y teniendo una destacada intervención musical al lado de grandes músicos cubanos en una reciente e importante exposición de pintura cubana organizada por el gobierno del Estado de Chihuahua.
Actualmente el grupo sigue deleitando al publico con su música en Casa del Dragón, Maria Chuchena y Olea restaurants bar de la ciudad de Chihuahua.
