" Did I mention that Spears is getting married to Justin Timberlake, of 'NSync? How perfect is that? Well, not quite. First of all, it isn't true. "It's just so funny, this whole thing about us getting engaged," Spears says, sitting cross-legged on the black leather couch in her dressing room. "Justin and I totally laughed about it. I told him during my show I would wear a big ass ring and do it like this [she holds a pretend microphone with her ring finger sticking out], just to keep people talking." Second of all, getting married wouldn't necessarily be good for Britney, Inc. So she shrugs off the rumor, waving her hand and shaking her hair (chin-length, actually-her stage mane will be supplied by extensions) like it's another fly in her pop-star ointment. Spears admits that she and Timberlake are dating- "When you're really comfortable with someone you love, the silence is the best," she says. "And that's how me and J. are. When we're in a room together, we don't have to say anything. And when we go out to a club, it's like we're the only two people there. It's for real." All the same, Spears's images is that of a southern girl who, despite her fairytale ascent from Kentwood, Louisiana, to megastardom, is still down home, chaste, and above all, sincere. The unsinkable 'N Sync is headed for rough waters -- and sources tell Star that heartthrob Justin Timberlake may be at the center of the turbulence.

Stretched out on sofas in a private suite deep inside New York City's Madison Square Garden on July 28 -- but not far from the madding crowds of mostly teen fans who've been dogging them since they hit town four days earlier -- the five members of 'N Sync are savoring a rare moment of tranquility. "We're exhausted," says Justin Timberlake. "Excited and exhausted at the same time." It's little wonder that Timberlake, 19, and his bandmates -- JC Chasez, 24, Lance Bass, 21, Chris Kirkpatrick, 28, and Joey Fatone, 23 -- are feeling a bit out of sync. Winding up the first leg of a 42-city tour launched in May to promote No Strings Attached, the group's 12 million-selling sophomore CD, the Fab Five have been playing to sellout audiences at the Garden all week (including a live HBO concert on July 27), schmoozing with the likes of Rolling Stone Keith Richards and MTV's Carson Daly, and late-night partying with Jennifer Lopez and Sean "Puffy" Combs, rapper Jay-Z and Savage Garden's Darren Hayes. On day five, the boys are awakened at 5 a.m. to rehearse for a Today performance before a record-setting 15,000 fans in Rockefeller Plaza -- three times the number who turned out a month earlier to hear Britney Spears. Despite the presence of Spears, 18, backstage -- and a sighting of her and Timberlake dirty-dancing at Manhattan's Lotus nightclub earlier in the week -- Timberlake denies rumors of impending nuptials. "I laughed when I heard [the rumors]," he says. "If I was really seriously thinking about getting engaged to anyone, nobody would know about it." His fellow Syncers also try to keep the lid on their love lives. "I gotta tell you, I would not want to be my girlfriend." says Chasez. "I would." quips Kirkpatrick. Being an 'N Sync parent can also be stressful. "This is scary," says Fatone's mother, Phyllis, 48, when dozens of girls surround a van carrying band members and pound on the windows as it pulls away from the hotel. "You don't want to see anybody get hurt." Surveying the throng, Fatone's father, Joe, 53, sees only opportunity. "Twelve million one, 12 million two," he jokes, ringing up CD sales on an imaginary cash register. "Ka-ching!" The boys find the adulation humbling. "We remember when we couldn't get arrested," says Kirkpatrick, who was singing doo-wop at Universal Studios in Orlando when he and the others formed 'N Sync in 1995. "Now we get our own HBO special. It's amazing. It's cool!" It will be amazing to cool down too. With a two-month hiatus before their tour resumes in October, the exhausted bandmates look forward to a less frantic schedule. In their Garden bunker they consider their options. "Play video games!" suggests Kirkpatrick. "Go away!" shouts Fatone. Even though many of his friends think he's a fool for not putting hundreds of notches on his bedpost, the devoutly religious singer from Memphis, Tenn., doesn't care.
"It's not that I haven't had the opportunity. When a group's touring, the chance comes up all the time. But that's not the kind of relationship I'm looking for.
"I believe in God and I know he doesn't want us jumping into bed with everybody we come in contact with."
"I want to marry a girl who shares the same values as I do," Justin declares. "I have a lot of friends who really messed their lives up. They're teenagers and they already have children, just because they couldn't keep it zipped. That's just stupid, right?"
"I love her with all my heart -- she's been my best friend forever -- so I speak out of concern.
"What's the big deal?" asks Baptist Britney, who says she prays every night and before she goes on stage.
"I believe we can make a difference and that's why I started my organization," he says. "I saw a need and knew it was my obligation to do something about it."
Justin is very aware that with his wealth and fame comes a responsibility to do the right thing as a role model -- and not just when it comes to sex.

Luckily, the 19-year-old singer switched to her more winning wardrobe for the exclusive after-pah-tay (hosted by thong-lovin' Sisqó) at the Venetian's plush Velvet Lounge. In a pink tank top 'n' pants, the Southern Baptist played digital dancing with 'N Sync-er Justin Timberlake on a cushy red couch.
Brit 'n' Just are used to being the center of attention by now, not that you can miss the cuddling couple, what with their ubiquitous bodyguard gorillas in the midst.
A few seats over, J.C. Chasez was chatting up an even chestier woman with a crucifix necklace wedged into her ample cleavage, when a boyish smooch took place just inches away.
No such question was on the minds of Britney and Justin, however. The duo remained, for the most part, plopped on their feathered throne, where they hung out, made schmoopy faces but decided not to swallow each other's faces on this particular occasion.

From AOL: False Britney Spears rumor sparks confusion in LA
LOS ANGELES(Reuters) - Britney Spears is alive and well, her publicist said Wednesday, despite bogus rumors of her death in a car crash with her pop star boyfriend Justin Timberlake that triggered hundreds of frantic phone calls to Los Angeles authorities.
"There is no truth to the rumor circulating around the world that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were involved in a car accident on Tuesday," Spears publicist Lisa Kasteler said in a statement about the false report.
Kasteler said that Spears, 19, and Timberlake, 20, were both in "great health" and hard at work: Spears recording a new album and Timberlake on tour with his teen heartthrob band 'N Sync.
The Louisiana-born Spears, whose album "Oops! I Did It Again" was one of the best-selling releases of 2000, was scheduled to perform at a concert at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday.
"Representatives for both Spears and Timberlake are looking into the situation to determine the original source of the rumor and if legal action is appropriate," Kasteler said.
Police and fire officials in Los Angeles were deluged with phone calls on Tuesday night and into Wednesday after the phony report was apparently spread by two San Jose-based radio personalities, known as Kramer and Twitch, whose program was being broadcast in the Dallas, Texas area on KEGL-FM.
According to a report in the Dallas Morning News, Kramer and Twitch told their listeners that Spears and Timberlake had been in a car crash in Los Angeles, leaving Spears dead and Timberlake lingering in a coma.
Kramer and Twitch cited a "source" in Los Angeles as giving them the scoop and said that Cedars Sinai Medical Center there had confirmed the report, the Morning News said, adding that the pair also made reference to apparently nonexistent wire service reports.
A Los Angeles police spokeswoman said her department spent the night answering phone calls from reporters and distraught fans of the pop couple.
"We got hundreds and hundreds of calls last night and more this morning based on a false report by a Texas radio station," the spokeswoman said, adding that fire officials and local hospitals were also inundated by callers.
Local news radio stations in Los Angeles reported the hoax on Wednesday and assured listeners that Spears -- one of the top-selling pop artists in the world -- and Timberlake were not dead or gravely injured.
KEGL could not be reached for comment on the report, but Gabrina Soliz, a spokeswoman for the station's corporate parent Clear Channel Communications said officials there were looking into the incident.

Paul II on a new CD this Christmas, the CD's distributor has
announced. The holiday package will serve as a companion
piece to the seven-volume "The Private Prayer Books of Pope
John Paul II," a collection of the pontiff's personal
writings. In addition, a video/DVD on the making of the CD
project will be prepared for released. "The prayer books, CD
and video represent a project that is global in its scope,"

Justin was hurt when he found out that Spears shunned him as her love interest in her hot new video, Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know, in favor of Parisian hunk Bryce Durand, pals say.
"Justin was all set to fly out and start filming, but Britney had her assistant call him to say the producers had chosen someone else for the part," says a friend. "Then he discovered it wasn't the producers' decision. It was Britney's!
"She even admitted to him that French guys 'trip her trigger!'" 
Adding insult to injury, pals say that Justin next discovered Britney was on vacation in Miami's hot South Beach district with a select few friends -- including Bryce -- and didn't even tell him. Meanwhile, Justin was even in the same state, recording in his Orlando, Fla., studio.
To woo back his love, Justin commissioned a one-of-a-kind diamond ring -- but insiders say Britney wouldn't accept it because "things didn't feel right."
The insider says: "Justin's in a lot of pain right now. Britney acts like she doesn't care and has been dropping hints that she's not happy with the relationship."
Pals say Justin's romance with Britney began to show signs of strain last year when rumors of the golden girl's underage drinking and partying reached Justin. To make matters worse, reports last year claimed she was spotted at L.A.'s Sunset Room having a steamy makeout session with Ben Affleck.
"Right now, Justin's stuck finishing up the next 'N Sync album, but he's finding it hard to concentrate on his work," says a source. "He constantly thinks about Britney and who she's with."
But despite friends' advice to drop her, Justin says he loves Britney and won't give up.
Says a pal: "He believes that their relationship is meant to be."

If you want to be serenaded by the members of 'NSYNC on your birthday, it helps to be connected — like, really connected.
Britney Spears celebrated her 19th birthday Saturday night by joining the group onstage at the San Diego Sports Arena. The teen queen first hit the stage incognito, wearing a wig and glasses, during the boy band's performance of Johnny Kemp's '80s dance hit "Just Got Paid," according to a source close to the production.
'NSYNC then asked the crowd to join them in singing "Happy Birthday" to the young pop star, who also attended the group's Friday night show in San Diego but did not take the stage.
The San Diego shows afforded the pop outfit even more reason to celebrate as they marked the end of 'NSYNC's fall U.S. tour, which had been rolling along since mid-October. A spokesperson for the venue said the group and its tour crew held a private end-of-tour party after Friday night's show, where the group also serenaded Spears with a rendition of "Happy Birthday."
The shows also marked the latest high-profile joint appearances by Spears and 'NSYNC, and specifically pal Justin Timberlake. Spears joined Timberlake at last week's My VH1 Music Awards, and both Spears and 'NSYNC are slated to appear at Tuesday's Billboard Music Awards.

Justin Timberlake and Britney are still virgins, according to Justin's grandmother. Sadie Nomar says the pair decided not to move into Britney's Los Angeles mansion to avoid temptation. Mrs Nomar said Justin does not agree with sex before marriage, and regarded living with Britney as a sin. She told Heat magazine: "Justin has high morals and has not slept with anyone." She says the pair have no plans to marry at the moment because they only ever see each other about once a month. Britney Spears was only 11 years old when she met a super-cute boy from Tennessee named Justin Timberlake. Both were living in a dorm in Orlando at the time, with the rest of the cast of the Mickey Mouse Club. They spent their days singing, dancing, acting, and on their breaks, riding the rides at Disney World. The talented twosome got along really well, and quickly became close. Justin evengave Britney her first kiss ("He was very sweet" she says now.) But after two seasons, the show ended and Britney had to say good-bye to her new friend and return home to Louisiana. Back home Britney realized that she wanted to be the queen of pop more than the high school homecoming queen. Oh, yeah and she definitely wanted to keep in touch with that cute Justin guy! Fast forward to late 1998. Britney kick starts her solo career by opening on tour for a group called 'N SYNC (perhaps you have heard of them?). Who should be a member of 'N SYNC but her old friend Justin Timberlake ! The two once again get to spend quality time together. Rumors began to fly that they are dating, but Britney denies they're anything more than just friends. Fastforward to 2000. Britney and Justin have known each other for seven years. Worldpop reported that David Kelly, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Kentwood, Louisiana, which Britney Spears used to attend twice a week is concerned about Britney's increasingly rock 'n' roll behaviour according this week's Heat Magazine. Britney has recently been spotted smoking and has admitted that US nightclubs bend the rules to allow her to drink although she is two years younger than the legal drinking age of 21. And despite insisting she is still a virgin, Britney was forced to re-edit the video for her new single Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know after her mum objected to its raunchy shots. As a result of this, David Kelly has revealed his concerns about her lifestyle. 'The foundation of the Church is about living life as Christ did,' Kelly explained. You all know Britney Spears has packed up her bustiers and spandex and moved west (at least for part of the year) to Hell-Ay, doncha? But I betcha don't know what happened before the big move.
According to some chatty (and close) chums of the Pop Princess, Brit's arrival at her new Mediterranean-style Bev Hills digs were not taken lightly. The house had to be searched from floor to ceiling, top to bottom. A team of experts was hired to check for any bugs or wires and make sure the place was secure.
And to top it off, the Pepsi pusher had blackout fences installed around the posh palace to keep paparazzi, fans and assorted looky-loos out.
(Makes sense. Gawd, even Bob Dole's got his eye on her these days.)
One person who won't be kept on the sidewalk is your sweetie and mine (Brit's, too), Justin Timberlake. Although the teenage twosome may not be living in the same house, that doesn't mean the perky pair aren't spending all their time together--so the goopy gab goes.
Could that be because these two darlings are neighbors?
Not only has J.T. purchased a pad in the same exclusive enclave as Brit, but "they can see each other's houses from their own places," said a source close to the cutesy crooners.

Now, don't start getting bedroom eyes--or ideas--at the thought, my frisky followers. The same Spears/Timberlake confidante added, "It's all true, what they say about staying virgins and all that. They are really just the nicest people."

Justin invited the Hawaiian girl (Nicole) from "Edens Crush" (Popstars) to his house in L.A to work on her "vocal skills" the two spent all night in the luxury house.. while Britney was out shooting "D.L.M.B.T.L.T.K", and the couple left holding hands, and an un-innocent kiss on the lips, given by Justin Timberlake, himself.

It's a little hard to believe that Britney is a virgin because she portrays herself like some stripper or prostitute. I also find it hard to believe that Justin is a virgin because I do not think he would be able to say no to a bunch of very willing groupies that probably look better and have more class in their pinkie finger than Britney has in her whole body!

THE love affair between 'N Sync heartthrob Justin Timberlake and pop princess Britney Spears is a match made in heaven -- both are virgins and both plan to stay that way until marriage!
In an exclusive Star interview, Justin, 19, reveals that while it's tough to resist the temptations offered by groupies when he's touring, he's determined to keep himself pure until his wedding night.
"I'm probably the only guy my age that I know who's a virgin," Justin confides. "And that's OK with me."
"I have the opportunity that most guys would kill for and I just throw it all away -- but it's all about love with me," the curly-haired hottie explains.
"I don't follow the crowd and I really don't feel that I need to prove my manhood by jumping into the sack with every girl that comes along.
Galpal Britney, also 19, wholeheartedly shares his views on chastity -- a good thing for their romance, since Justin says he has to respect the woman he finally weds.
There's just one glitch in Justin's relationship with Britney, whom he first met years ago when they were members of Disney's Mickey Mouse Club. He feels she dresses and acts way too sexy!
"Britney's making some big mistakes, critical mistakes," says Justin.
"She needs to slow down and count her blessings. She needs to recognize that there are thousands of young girls out there who watch her and think it's OK to dress like that.
"I'm really worried about her."
But Britney, who sings, "I'm not that innocent," in her hit Oops!... I Did it Again, begs to differ with her beau.
"I have really strong morals and just because I look sexy doesn't mean I'm a naughty girl.
"I'm a Christian. I go to church, but my mom taught us: 'Don't be ashamed of your body -- it's a beautiful thing."
The couple do agree, however, when it comes to music and giving back to their fans.
The 'N Syncer has started the Justin Timberlake Foundation, which awards grants to junior high and high schools for music programs.
"And I recognize the obligation I have to be a good example to those out there who are fans and friends."

On Oct. 12 Britney Spears took a break from the London leg of her six-week European tour and consulted the stars. Forking over $60 at the Astrology Shop in trendy Covent Garden, she left with a 20-page computer-generated horoscope that delved into, among other areas, the 18-year-old singer's romance with 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake, 19. According to store manager Barry Street, she may well be telling him bye, bye, bye in the coming months. "She's quite conservative and traditional in her romantic life right now," he says. "But after February she starts to rebel. . . . My own bet is that she'll go her own way." Went public in September Maybe, but right now these young stars are very much aligned. After they were spotted clubbing in New York City this summer, their affection became more public on Sept. 7 at the MTV Video Music Awards at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall and later at the nightclub Twirl. "There were 600 people here," says Archley Prudent, a designer for the club, "and they sat next to each other or danced the whole night," touching each other's faces and doing "the little things people do that show you they're a couple." Since then, despite living far apart -- she with her parents in Kentwood, La., he in Orlando -- they've been seen dancing at South Beach's Level Nightclub, shopping at clothing boutiques in Miami Beach and strolling on Sunset Boulevard in L.A.
Friends since childhood
Their connection may be rooted in similar upbringings. Children of the South -- he grew up in Memphis, she in Kentwood -- they're humble about their talents. "They both were incredibly polite kids," says Casella. "'Yes, sir,' 'No, sir.' Their moms did a great job of raising them." Spears is the second of three children of Lynne, 45, a schoolteacher, and Jamie, 48, a building contractor; Timberlake is the only child of Lynn Harless, 39, owner of a music management company. (His father, Randy, 41, has two children with his second wife.) In the spring of 1993, after a nationwide search, they and five others (including Christina Aguilera, then 12) joined 13 other cast members in the Mickey Mouse Club, a modernized version of the '50s kids show that had been resurrected a few years earlier. The cast -- who each had at least one parent living with them in Orlando -- went to class, rehearsed and socialized together. By all accounts, Timberlake and Spears were just pals. The show was canceled by '95, and three years later fledgling solo act Spears began opening for 'N Sync, one of several Orlando-based boy bands, on a nationwide tour. "I'm attracted to guys who are really confident and make conversation," Spears recently told YM. Clearly Timberlake fits the mold. "Every relationship I've been in," he told Cosmogirl, "I've eventually overwhelmed the girl because they just can't handle all the love." These days Spears (who is in the process of buying a Manhattan loft) is touring sans Timberlake, who is on a U.S. tour with 'N Sync. But their romance seems mostly, well, in sync. "They are both so famous right now," says Casella, "that it would be hard to be able to trust new people. They have a history and past together. They feel safe with one another. It's perfect."

Justin Timberlake arrived via a secret entrance in the back with his pop-star "friend" Britney Spears. (By the way, observers tell me Britney looked horrendous without makeup, with a complexion that would make Cam Diaz look as clear as Calista Flockhart's desire not to eat.)
Brit and Just came an hour after the rest of the band showed up, and you can use your imagination as to what they were up to before that. At the club, the couple continued displaying their affection for each other until MTV veejay Thalia entered the perky picture.
"She totally had her eyes on Justin," said an eyewitness. "She was an 'N Sync [rhymes with strut], and to put it mildly, Britney was not happy."
Britney stormed off and didn't return to Justin's side the entire night. Instead, she hung out and danced with friends of the band, but she made a point to keep her distance from J.T., who continued to flirt with Thalia and many other gals, making young Britney even more irritated.
But sleazy behavior wasn't limited to Justin. Joey Fatone was begging two buxom beauties to show off "your tits." How classy.
Compared with the antics of Justin and Joey, the rest of the band was rather subdued. Lance and JC Chasez barely stayed long enough to take off their jackets, while Chris Kirkpatrick was the only member to drink an alcoholic beverage all night.
So, maybe Lance was right about the teetotaling after all. I just don't think the boys encourage such an innocent playpen, that's all.
(Glad to hear it, actually. I was worried.)
July 11, 2000- A publicist for Britney Spears and *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake released a statement on Monday regarding the marital status of the couple: "Contrary to what has been erroneously reported, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are neither engaged or married" it said. British tabloids had a field day over the weekend, heralding an upcoming marriage between the two 18-year-olds. The publicist said that the former Mouseketeers are just friends.

March 14, 2000- Britney Spears has been ducking a lot of rumors about herself. While British tabloids are reporting that the pint-sized pop diva is shacking up in a rented Los Angeles pad with 'N Sync heartthrob Justin Timberlake, Spears's p.r. rep Lizzie Grubman told USA Today, "She's only 18. She is 100% absolutely not living with him." Neither is she looking for an English estate so she can be near Prince William, Grubman added. Home for Spears remains New Orleans -- with her folks. Spears, who is actually 19, can address all of these rumors and more in her forthcoming memoir, "Britney" which will coincide with the release of her new CD on May 9. Clairol, meanwhile, did confirm some rumors about Britney: that she has signed to serve as the hair product company's celebrity spokeswoman and appear in its TV, print, radio and Internet promotions. Clairol will also sponsor her upcoming 50-city summer tour.
