Painting Now The Picture
··················
··················
··················
When I sit and think about my life
when
my work is finished and through;
When
I've many years behind me,
and ahead
of
me a few;
·················
I
shall want
to sit,
I think, sort of dreaming in
the
sun;
And recall the roads I've
traveled
and the many things I've done.
·················
I hope there'll be
no
picture
that I'll hate to look upon;
When the time to paint it better
or
to
wipe it out, is gone.
I hope
there'll be
no vision
of a hasty word I've said
That
has left a trail of sorrow,
like a
whip
welt sore and red.
And
I hope my time of reflection
will
bring
back no bitter scene of a time when I
was selfish,
or a time when I was
mean.
·················
When I'm
approaching
the end of life,
and I'm thinking
about
life's way,
I don't want to sit
regretting any bygone yesterday.
·················
I am painting now
the
picture that I'll want someday to
see;
I
am filling in a canvas that will soon
come back to me.
Though nothing great is on it,
and
though nothing there is fine,
I
shall
want to look it over someday
and
then
call it mine.
So I do
not dare to leave it
while the paint
is
warm and wet,
With a single thing
upon
it
that I later will
regret.
Kindness is more
than deeds.
It is an expression,
a look,
a touch
It is anything that lifts
another person!
"Life"
Life is an opportunity,
benefit from
it.
Life is beauty,
admire it.
Life is bliss,
taste it.
Life is a dream,
realize it.
Life is a challenge,
meet
it.
Life is a duty,
complete it.
Life is a game,
play it.
Life is costly,
care for it.
Life is wealth,
keep it.
Life is love,
enjoy it.
Life is mystery,
know it.
Life is a promise,
fulfil
it.
Life is sorrow,
overcome it.
Life is a song,
sing it.
Life is a struggle,
accept
it.
Life is tragedy,
confront
it.
Life is an adventure,
dare
it.
Life is luck,
make it.
Life is too precious,
do not destroy
it.
Life is life,
fight for it
Peace Is Not The Absence Of Trouble
But
The Presence of God!
By the time the Lord made mothers, he
was into the sixth day working
overtime.
An Angel appeared and said
"Why are
you
spending so much time on this one?"
And the Lord answered and said,
"Have
you read the spec sheet on her?
She
has
to be completely washable,
but not
plastic; have 200 movable parts,
all
replaceable; run on black coffee and
leftovers;
have a lap that can hold
three children at one time and
disappears when she stands up;
have
a
kiss that can cure anything
from a
scraped knee to a broken heart;
and
have
six pairs of hands.
"The Angel was astounded at the
requirements for this one.
"Six
pairs of
hands!
No Way!"
said the Angel.
The Lord replied, "Oh, it's not the
hands that are the problem.
It's the
three pairs of eyes that mothers must
have!"
"And that's on the standard model?"
the
Angel asked.
The Lord nodded in agreement,
"Yep,
one
pair of eyes are to see through the
closed door
as she asks her children
what they are doing even though she
already knows.
Another pair in the
back
of her head
are to see what she
needs to
know
even though no one thinks she
can.
And the third pair are here in the front
of her head.
They are for looking at
an
errant child and saying
she
understands and loves him or her without
even saying a single word."
The Angel tried to stop the Lord.
"This
is too much work for one day.
Wait
until
tomorrow to finish."
"But I can't!" the Lord protested,
"I am
so close to finishing this creation that
is so close to my own heart.
She
already
heals herself when she is sick
AND
can
feed a family of six on a pound of
hamburger
and can get a nine year
old to
stand in the shower."
The Angel moved closer and touched the
woman.
"But you have made her so
soft,
Lord."
"She is soft,"
the Lord agreed, "but
I
have also made her tough.
You have
no
idea what she can endure or accomplish."
"Will she be able to think?"
asked
the
Angel.
The Lord replied,
"Not only will she
be
able to think,
she will be able to
reason, and negotiate."
The Angel then noticed something
and
reached out and touched the woman's
cheek.
"Oops, it looks like you have
a leak with this model.
I told you
that you were trying to put too much
into
this one."
"That's not a leak,"
the Lord
objected.
"That's a tear!"
"What's the tear for?"
the Angel
asked.
The Lord said,
"The tear is her way
of
expressing her joy,
her sorrow,
her
disappointment,
her pain,
her
loneliness,
her grief,
and her
pride."
The Angel was impressed.
"You are a
genius, Lord.
You thought of
everythin
for this one.
You even created the
tear!"
The Lord looked at the Angel and smiled
and said,
"I'm afraid you are wrong
again,
my friend. I created the
woman,
but she created the
tear!"
CHICKENS CAN'T FLY
I agree with Erykah Badu
when she
said,
"Pick your friends like you pick your
fruit."
Don't spend major time with minor
people.
If there are people in your
life
that continually disappoint you,
break
promises, stomp on your dreams,
too
judgmental,
have different values
and
don't have your back during difficult
times...
that is not a
friend.
To have a
friend,
be a friend.
Sometimes in life
as you grow,
your friends will
either
grow or go.
Surround yourself with
people who reflect your values,
goals,
interests, and lifestyle.
When I think of any of my successes,
I
am thankful to GOD
from whom all
blessings flow,
and to my family and
friends
that enrich my life. Over
the
years my phone book has changed
because
I changed for the better.
At first
you
think you're going to be alone,
but
after a while new people show up in your
life
that make your life so much
sweeter
and easier to endure.
Remember what your elders used to say,
"Birds of a feather flock together."
If
you're an eagle,
don't hang around
chickens:
Chickens Can't Fly!
The
shortest distance between a problem and
a solution
is the distance between
your
knees and the floor.
The one who kneels to the Lord can stand
up to anything!!!
Be Blessed.
