Bob Halowell

I am married to a beautiful, loving intelligent wife. We have three cats and a sable and white collie.

I have an M.A. degree in Professional Counseling, and I work as a child therapist. I like to incorporate a variety of tabletop games in therapy when I can. I think games can be used to help people develop problem-solving skills, social skills and provide many hours of clean entertainment with friends and family.

I have played Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) extensively starting with the 1978 Holmes edition of D&D. I bought my first copy of D&D for $6 when I was 13, a used 1981 Moldvay edition of Basic D&D. It came with a published adventure, B2 Keep on the Borderlands and 6 polyhedral dice. I upgraded with the 1983 Mentzer edition of Basic D&D and moved on to Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D), AD&D Second Edition, D&D Rules Cyclopedia and D&D 3E. Other roleplaying games I have played include Star Frontiers, Star Wars -WEG, Middle Earth Roleplaying -ICE, and Lejendary Adventure.

Other games in the fantasy genre that I enjoy are Magic the Gathering: Collectable Card Game and MageKnight miniatures by WizKids. Some of my non-game pastimes include model railroading, soccer and martial arts.

Of all the editions of D&D I have played I like Basic D&D Mentzer edition the best. I admit some of this has to do with nostalgia, and the other part is the artwork of Larry Elmore.
I highly recommend Lejendary Adventure by Gary Gygax. Lejendary Adventure is a rules light fantasy rpg.

Edward Frank

I was asked to provide a brief biography of myself as part of this gaming group.  I am intelligent, suave, sophisticated, devilishly handsome, athletic, charming, and above all modest.  By training I am a geologist, although I am not working as one now.  I am active in a number of conservation groups.  I am a caver, and have visited caves across the Unites States, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.  I enjoy photography and shooting nature videos.  I work on computers and websites.  I have several personal websites, you are encouraged to visit them. Three of them are:

I have been gaming since at least 1985, probably longer.  I started with the boxed set of basic rules. I have played every edition of Dungeons and Dragons.  Second Edition: Players Options is still the best, although it is not perfect.  I have played many other game systems from Vampire, Shadowrun, Rolemaster, Fantasy Hero, Superhero, Atlantean Systems, Star Trek, and many others.  Roleplaying in a fantasy setting is the most rewarding for me.
