Mycoses

 

Fungal diseases (Mycoses) are classified by the location of the infection
  1. Superficial (cutaneous) mycoses:
    infections that are limited to outer layers of skin, hair, and nails
  2. Subcutaneous mycoses:
    infections involving the dermis, subcutaneous tissues, muscle, fascia, and bone
  3. Systemic mycoses:
    infections that originate primarily in the lung and may spread to many organ systems
  4. Opportunistic mycoses:
    infections in patients with immune deficiencies
