Demon Character Creation

These character templates are just to give you an idea of the power and abilities of demons and demon servants.

Barliagus the Cataboligne

Barliagus is a very minor demon. He is considered a member of the Catabolignes, a type of demon that enjoys manipulating human agents. They treat their earthly servants well and are even known to manifest themselves to protect them, though this is rare. They are better known for using their powers to prey upon those who oppose them or their servants. They will kidnap such an individual, carry him away to a safe location and crush his flesh and bones. Barliagus is a common member of his kind. He has immediate plans to establish a following of immortal serants. They will aid him in his not-yet-developed master plan. Barliagus has found Sabbat vampires the most acceptable servants due to their lack of human morality, their long existence and their aptitude for secrecy.

Roleplaying Hints:

You are representative of the massive brute force of hell. Your kind serves as legionnaires to more powerful demons. You are tough and it shows. You enjoy human suffering, and whenever you torture or kill someone, you almost lose yourself in the pleasure of it. You seldom speak cryptically and are blunt and to the point. People obey you without you having to manipulate them. If the mortals are particularly powerful, you might manipulate them into your service, promising great rewards. You have no mercy for those who oppose you.

Lucricia the Succubus

This particular is a character that I play. I have included her stats to give players an idea how powerful demons can be.

Lucricia is a Succubus. She is a demon who gains power by having sex with mortals. Lucricia has long preferred humans over the undead leeches, but she has recently learned she can Blood Bond vampires to her. Eventually, you will promise to be his for all eternity if he gives his soul to you. (Storytellers Handbook to the Sabbat 76-78)

Kaiser

Kaiser is the servant of Sonneillon. He appears as a walking corpse, clad in rags of finery, with his flesh burnt and scarred. His eyesockets are empty, and wisps of mist seem to drift behind them. Kaiser has been given governance over last things. He is the census-taker of Hell; his job is to be present at the end of things, whether they are ideas, faiths or races. He is sometimes sent by his lord to find those who seek to escape the powers of Hell, for he is an excellent tracker and huntsman. He was allegedly seen by Cainites at the time of the diablerie of Saulot, and it is said that he appeared disturbed by the events he witnessed. He seldom communicates, preferring to follow his lonely task in silence, but will respond if addressed in High Latin.

The Huntsman

The Huntsman appears as a finely dressed noble. He has many friends and knows all the latest fashions and scandals. An inveterate gossip, he seems to know more of a character’s business than the character himself. He proposes games of chance in which the wager gradually rises, or dares victims to commit some indiscretion with him. Only when his victim has no other friends and is exiled from society will he invite her to come to his house and see what else he has to offer....

INCUBI/SUCCUBI

The irony of a vampire seduced by one of these legendary tempters should be obvious. Nevertheless, Cainites find such unearthly beauty as alluring as any mortal would, perhaps more so. Unlike most infernal hosts, an incubus or succubus may exist indefinitely, so long as she stays sexually active. The life-force she draws to the surface during sex sustains her at the expense of her victim. Regardless of its gender (they may actually be the same thing in different disguises), one of these hosts can entrance almost anyone he, she or it pleases, enticing the target into a whirlpool of carnal sins far beyond mere lust. When the creature has had its fun, it leaves a herd of shattered victims behind.

Tales tell of sexual demon-things who have existed since time began, although these may be actual tempter devils, not mere hosts. As unearthly as her beauty may appear, a succubus still pales compared to a tempter demon in full form. By human standards, she is a vision no mortal can match, and her skills extend beyond her looks. With supernatural perceptions, the infernal seducer gauges her target, then acts appropriately. Her behavior may be shockingly blatant, quietly seductive or passively virginal, whatever works best. Male incubi prefer to deflower virgins and spoil them for any mortal lover, while female succubi incite men to betray everything they hold sacred. Many seduce their own sex, then drag the affair into the open and leave.

The secrecy and shame with which many regard sex adds to the damage the seducer himself can do. The Church advises believers to deny the wills of the flesh; pagan mystics, however, have more effective ways of dealing with sexual predators. By performing pure sexual rituals - Great Rites - they drive incubi and succubi away by sanctifying the act which the demons would debase. If physically threatened, these creatures either transform into clawed horrors, beg bystanders to come to their aid or simply hide.

TEMPTER

Attacking such a creature, it should be noted, would be suicide. Fortunately for those who meet them, most tempters are too finicky to fight personally. Instead, they prefer to corrupt mortals and immortals alike with their many Knowledges, unearthly beauty and infernal talents. Almost vain to a fault, they clothe themselves as gorgeous humans or wondrous beasts, like unicorns, swans, panthers, white lions and such. Even their most infernal forms contain elements of unapproachable beauty. These demons prefer noble names-Acaos Gamblegold or Dia the Vine Queen-to the coarse monikers of their cousins. Tempters are charming, diplomatic and sincere, To them, the investment of a few mere months of behaving like one's best friend is more than worth the eventual prize. Many actually enjoy human company, and seem to regret consigning their 'partners" to eventual damnation. The human spirit fascinates most tempters; the hope people have on Earth is far better than Hell's despair. Perhaps they loathe that hope for the same reason. What they cannot themselves have, they destroy in others.
