Alexia the Helper

ALEXIA's Story

Alexia Ramsylla, from 'Hawk Meadows' village, E. Leicester.

NEW EPISODE COMING VERY SOON!!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR PATIENCE!

  ALEXIA - WHO IS SHE?:

ALEXIA Ramsylla and her younger sister, Maya, live in a suburban village on the edge of East Leicester, a place called 'Hawk Meadows'. Alexia is a beautiful, young, University Student, studying for a degree in Fine Art & Design.  She also hopes to eventually study Animal Care, and maybe even Sciences.  Alexia attends University in the city centre, but lives in student accommodation. She is lucky because her family live near to her. Young Alexia is popular, but also shy and quiet, and is only 5 ft. in height. She was born in 1994, in Leicester, and her parents live in Hawk Meadows, too, on Grosvenor Road. Alexia is from a mixed-race background.

MAYA - HER YOUNGER SISTER:   Her little sister Maya is very close to her, they love each other dearly! Maya calls her sister "Lexie", which is affectionate and so Alexia doesn't mind that at all.

ALEXIA's FAVOURITE THINGS:   Animals and Nature, Cats, Art, Music, Science, and the colour Pink.

THINGS THAT MEAN SO MUCH TO HER:   Her Family and Friends. And, her best (close) friend Jenna (since being little).

ALEXIA's DISLIKES:   Bad weather, bad music, too much loud noise and people who are aggressive or bully.

ALEXIA's PERSONALITY-TRAITS:

Happy-Go-Lucky, gentle, shy and quiet, kind, nice - a lovely person. She certainly lives up to her name (Alexia = a helper or defender (Greek), because she is so helpful, thoughtful and considerate, and will defend her family and friends.

WHO IS ALEXIA CREATED BY:

This illustrated story, (in both comic-book and story-book formats), has been created/ is published by a not-for-profit voluntary or charity-organisation, called (as a whole) "Hogarth's Wild Life", which has several different forms and sections. This charity is part for children and young people, and part animal-welfare and conservation. The artwork and storylines contained within are aimed at educating people, including youngsters, about various real-life scenarios that can and do happen every day. This includes how to respect animals, safety in the home, and also an anti-bullying message.

The main artist involved in the creation of this project, this cartoon, is the equivalent of Alexia - shy and quiet, small and all-round nice person, (although a little bit taller than 5 ft.).

HOW IS ALEXIA CREATED?:

Each and every episode is dreamt up and written in story-form first, with rough sketches. The ideas and inspiration come from the artist's real-life experiences, of both happy and sad. And also, inspiration has come from a number of different other cartoons, and childrens' television shows. Each box or "panel" within the cartoon is a piece of artwork in itself, and just like a jigsaw puzzle, when completed the artwork is put together - to form the final comic story or strip. Some of the panels within can take many hours of work. Some of the strips are in black & white, others in full-colour. Some are both, mixed. Also, some of the stories are as a short story format, with a few pictures.

ALEXIA ANIMATION TOO?:

YES - I am working ideas for creating a short animated version of the cartoon - that should be fun to do!

ABOUT THIS STORY or CARTOON - WHAT IS IT?:

There have been a number of different forms of this story/ comic/ cartoon, and of the things featured within it - which were "invented" at different times. The first episode was back in 1994, and was only a size to fit within one page. However, the Hawk Meadows village was thought up as early as in 1987 to '88, and was actually made up as a miniature 3-D model on a base, as well as some drawings - with a newer version created in 1990. It was decided to link these two things, to create a more interesting storyline. The cartoons have been created and written by several artists and have been published over the years in a number of magazines, in various formats - including as a comic in the middle-section. The characters are of (in) both animal and human form. They sometimes, on occasion, meet and interact with each other, but while the animals can "talk" to each other, the human characters can only hear their animal voice sounds! It was hoped that the cartoon could be unique in this way.

The storylines usually follow on and the characters with them. Over the many years now, the stories have included both happy and sad things, and that includes the passing away of a few of the characters, and therefore has been designed to move its readers emotionally - like most storybooks do. The cartoons have always been, and are intended for, both young and adult readers alike.
