Girl Scout Troop 1192

I am a member of Mile High Girl Scout Troop 1192, and have been since first grade.  On May 2, 1999, I am bridging from a Brownie to a Girl Scout.  In my troop, we have a name called the "Alexis-a-thon", named after me because I am always spilling my drinks.

This year, our troop has gone on many field trips like:

• Denver Zoo - we got to see a peacock open its feathers and we did a lot of walking.
• Denver Botanic Gardens - we got to see plants and a real iguana.  Cool!  We also got to see beautiful flowers and a Japanese Garden.   We went on a treasure hunt in the gardens. 
• Dinosaur Ridge - we saw very old rocks, footprints and trace fossils of dinosaurs that roamed just west of Lakewood millions of years ago.  We also got to do a quiz.
• Nature Hike at Lookout Mountain - we saw a lot of plants and bugs on this mountain that overlooks Denver just west of Lakewood.
• Hayride at Chatfield Resevoir - we ate a lot of food, saw elk and horses, and were nearly eaten alive by all the mosquitoes (very rare for Colorado).   We sat on hay and went for a ride around the state park.  We also got to play baseball.

Future field trips include horseback riding and winter camping.

This year, we once again sold Girl Scout cookies.  I sold 175 boxes of cookies and along with other troop members, we raised enough money to pay for our field trips as well as vests and patches for next year.

Our girl scout leaders are Amy Traudt and Peggy Rocklin.
