Freddy "Phenom" Garcia - the Rising Mariners Star

Accomplishments

days 'til OPENING DAY!!

February 2003: Freddy won his arbitration case vs. the Mariners. He will be paid $6.875 to be the M's ace this year. Hopefully, a long term contract is waiting in the wings.

The Mariners are destined to rebound from a "dissappointing" 90+ win season in 2002. With a lineup featuring: Ichiro, Randy Winn, Edgar, Olerud, Boone, Cameron, Guillen, and a revamped Cirillo, the Mariners will once again be an offensive machine. The Mariners also have many young prospects like Chris Snelling, Ryan Anderson, and Gil Meche who will be making an impact soon. With great pitching, defense, and offense, the Mariners should be able to fend off the defending Champs in the West. The Ralley Monkey doesn't stand a chance versus Kaz, Rhodes, Nelson, Shiggy, and company.

Some text on this page are relatively permanent for all new users coming to the site. However, many new things continue to be added. 2003 Pitching Rotation has been posted above as well as my 2003 Predicted A.L. Standings. I'm hoping that many of you will come back and visit again. Feel free to vote at the Mariners 2003 MVP Poll. I will be adding new pics of Freddy as often as possible. I'm sorry about the loading time on certain servers. Thanks for visiting! Spread the word about Freddy!!

2003 Mariners Pitching Rotation:

1. Freddy Garcia #34!

2. Jamie Moyer

3. Joel Pineiro

4. Ryan Franklin

5. Gil Meche or Jamey Wright

The Chief has been named the Opening Day starter versus the A's in Japan. Ageless Jamie Moyer will pitch on the 26th in Japan. According to new skipper Bob Melvin, both Pineiro and Franklin will be avaiable for relief work, but Freddy and Jamie won't need any help. Gil Meche, a stud 2 seasons ago, is on the rise again. Jamey Wright could be another possibility should Meche or Franklin flounder. Little Unit Ryan Anderson - Could this be the year?!

On September 1, 2001 I went to another Mariners/Orioles game at Camden Yards in a 6-4 M's win. With anticipation of getting close to the Chief again, I waited about a half hour after the long game (the game lasted 3.5 hours+) for players to leave. Most players took the team bus back to the hotel, but Freddy Garcia and a few others, went out for their Saturday night. I was able to get a few snapshots, one of which is autographed by Freddy himself. It was too crowded to get close for a picture pose, but I got a few good shots. My younger brother was actually able to get next to Freddy and I snapped a picture of them, and then he got Carlos Guillen to pose with him (not pictured on the web though). In the middle of the Freddy pics above, is the ticket stub which Jeff Nelson signed! I also got a picture with Mr. Nelson before gametime (to be added later). Again, my brother did me one better, by getting Nelson, Garcia, AND Moyer to sign his hat.

Quite possibly the most perfect Freddy Garcia rookie card above (ARV: $100)!

A.K.A: "El Chief" "El Torpedo" "Phenom"

YEP, THAT IS THE CHIEF AND ME! On September 16, 2000 I went to the O's/M's game at Camden Yards where I found the Chief beginning to sign autographs. He signed my baseball along with the Xplosion Rookie Card. However, to cap it all off, a nice couple behind me was nice enough to take a picture of Freddy Garcia and me. The pic came out well and there it is!

Pictures from left to right are Freddy and me, the Xplosion Autograph, and the baseball signed by Rob Ramsey (top) and Freddy below it.

This site is dedicated to the young up and coming Seattle Mariners pitcher. Freddy Garcia is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the brightest stars in the MLB today. His mid to high 90's fastball can be considered "the most electrifying pitch in baseball today." He has a wicked twelve to six curve also. And Freddy's sweet forkball/change-up is almost as electrifying as the heater itself. Batters get burned!
