The Perfect Time

Nick pulled up in front of Julie’s house on Friday morning. He had a very special weekend planned for the both of them and couldn’t wait to tell her about it. He rang the doorbell and waited.
“Nick, what are you doing here?” asked Mrs. Lanar when she opened the door.
“Well, I’ve got a surprise for Julie, but I need to talk to you about it first.” Said Nick. Mrs. Lanar motioned for him to come in and then closed the door.
A half an hour later Nick went up the stairs to Julie’s room. He knocked softly and heard Julie say ‘come in’. Nick opened the door and went into Julie’s room.
“Hey.” He said when he saw Julie. She turned around in her chair and looked at Nick in surprise.
“Hey!” she said excitedly and hugged and kissed Nick. “What are you doing here?” she asked.
“I have a surprise for you.” Said Nick grinning.
“Tell me tell me!” said Julie enthusiastically.
“Well, I can’t tell you the entire thing, but I can tell you that you should pack your bags because we are going for a weekend in PARIS!” exclaimed Nick. Julie’s eyes grew wide with excitement.
“PARIS?” she exclaimed. “But what about the tour?”
“We have the weekend off.” Explained Nick. “So start packing because our flight leaves in one hour.”
“ONE HOUR?” yelled Julie and began running around her room trying to find her small suitcase. “Nick, why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“Because it was supposed to be a surprise, now pack fast!” said Nick laughing. Twenty-five minutes later Nick and Julie were on their way to the airport in Nick’s car. And twenty minutes after that they were seated in the first class section of the plane on their way to Paris.

PARIS – The next morning

“Julie? Baby wake up.” said Nick softly leaning towards Julie. Julie stirred and opened her eyes.
“Nick, what time is it?” she asked rubbing her eyes.
“It’s 4:30 in the morning.” Said Nick.
“Are you nuts? The sun is not even up yet!” exclaimed Julie.
“Yeah, that’s the point, now get up!” said Nick grabbing Julie’s arm and dragging her out of bed.
“Okay okay, but you better have a good excuse for dragging me out of bed this early.” Whined Julie and headed to the bathroom. Nick grinned to himself and started looking for his shirt. Fifteen minutes later Julie came out of the bathroom and got dressed. Her and Nick made their way downstairs and walked out of the hotel. There, in front of them was a white stretch limo.
“Nick, why is there a limo here?” asked Julie looking at Nick.
“It’s all part of my surprise.” Said Nick mysteriously and opened the door for her. She got in and Nick got in after her. They arrived at their destination forty minutes later. They got out and Julie gasped in surprise. They were standing in front of the Eiffel Tower.
“Why are we here?” asked Julie still looking in awe at the tower.
“You’ll see.” Said Nick, he then took Julie’s hand and led her to the tower. “Come on, we’re going to the top.” He said. When they got to the top they could see all of Paris. The view was absolutely breathtaking. The sun was just beginning to rise and its glow was spread out over the entire city. There were lights on all over the place but some were beginning to fade. Julie sighed at the amazing beauty in front of her and turned to face Nick.
“So, why are we here?” she asked.
“I needed the perfect time to ask you this.” Said Nick reaching into his pocket.
“Ask me what?” asked Julie curiously.
“This.” Said Nick taking out a small velvet box from his pocket and getting down on one knee. “Julie, will you marry me?” he asked. Julie’s eyes filled with tears of happiness as she looked at her boyfriend and at the ring sparkling inside the box.
“YES!” she said. Tears were flowing freely from her eyes as Nick took the promise ring off of her finger and moved it to her other hand, and put the engagement ring on her left ring finger. Nick pulled Julie into his embrace and they kissed passionately both overwhelmed with happiness as the sun rose and spread its rays around them.
