Montblanc Simplo GmbH
- Originally founded as the Simplo Filler Pen Company
in 1906 in Hamburg Germany.
- The firm first began manufacturing barrels and caps
for the French Rouge et Noir brand.
- The first Mont Blanc fountain pen was made in 1910.
It is said that in a meeting of the founders, one of them looked at
the new model with its white cap and remarked that it reminded him of
a snow covered peak, thus the name Montblanc or white mountain was born.
- In 1913 the trade mark white star bacame the Company's
logo. all pens from now on carry the while star on the cap.
- In 1924 the Meisterstück was introducted and is
still in production today.
- By 1926 Montblanc is in 60 counties and is enjoying
rapid growth.
- For the first time, in 1930, the nib of the Meisterstück
is engraved with the number "4810", the elevation of Mont
Blanc.
- A lifelong guarantee is proved on the Meisterstück
in 1935.
- While the Montblanc factories are being rebuilt after
the Worlf War II, the pens were manufactured in Denmark.
- The "60 Line" is introduced in 1955.
- The fountain pen makes a come back in the 1980s ant
the first Montblanc Boutique is opened in Hong Kong in 1990.
- The first new brand since the Meisterstück,
the Bohéme.
