Our Vessel - MV "Against the Wind"
The MV "Against the Wind" is the vessel utilized by Island Coast Boat
Tours for all excursions. Constructed under Canadian Coast Guard
supervision in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia, Canada, it meets and exceeds all
regulations imposed on passenger vessels. Annually the vessel undergoes
inspections by the Canadian Coast Guard prior to each operating season to insure
that all regulations continue to be met and that a high level of
standards is maintained.
Brightly decorated in Canada's colors, red and white, the MV "Against
the Wind" is a 40 ft by 16 ft (approx. 12.19 by 5 metres), custom-built,
motor vessel of fiberglass construction. It is equipped with a heated
cabin area, galley, washroom facility and canopy protection with allows
tours to be conducted rain or shine (exception - dense fog or excessive
winds). Seating for 25 passengers is located in the "after-kid" or back
section of the vessel, facing the water therefore allowing all eyes to watch the horizon for "blows"!!
There is also a gift shop on board where passengers can purchase
souvenirs, light snacks, hot & cold beverages plus 35mm film if they
happen to run out! As you can see the MV "Against the Wind" is "second
to none" and is well equipped to meet all passenger requirements for
safety, comfort, and the simple necessities while out on an excursion.
