Welcome to the first featured artist of the week section.
The lucky band that gets to kick it off just happens to
be my favorite band, Fuel. Songs written
by guitarist Carl Bell, and sung by frontman Brett
Scallions are just amazing. Jeff Abercrombie
on bass and Kevin Miller on drums are not to be
overlooked either. This four-man tower of power can rock
your world from beginning to end of every CD, and of every
show. They are just a powerhouse to see in concert.
I won't give you the entire band history, because I don't
want to bore you all, but I'll give a little brief discography.
Their first album was titled Fuel, and it was just
a demo tape. Consisting of songs that haven't been re-released
(with the exception of Stripped Away, which was released
acoustically recently), this album was yet a very good
one. Despite the quality of tapes and Fuel's "inexperience,"
it was a very well-done album. The next one was called
Porcelain. This album had the very first version
of Shimmer, Fuel's first number one hit-single.
It also contains one song that has not been re-released,
which is called Nothing. The next album is Hazleton.
This only had four songs on it, one being King For
a Day, which also has not been re-released. The other
three from Hazleton are on Sunburn. Speaking of Sunburn,
this was Fuel's first nationally-released album. It was
very successful, consisting of four singles: Shimmer,
Bittersweet, Jesus or a Gun, and Sunburn. And
last, but definitely not least, their latest album is
called Something Like Human. The band's first single
from this, Hemorrhage (In My Hands), has been #1
on the modern rock charts for 9 weeks straight, and has
been a huge success. The next single to be released from
this album will be Innocent. Fuel has also had
appearances on two soundtracks; one being Godzilla,
which they contributed Walk the Sky, and the other
is Scream 3, with Sunburn.
To sum it all up, Fuel is just an incredible band. If
you have never heard their songs, go and buy the CD's!!!
Sunburn and Something Like Human are the only ones available
for sale, but go buy them! They are utterly amazing. I
have been a die-hard fan ever since I heard Shimmer for
the first time, way back at the beginning of 1998, before
the album Sunburn was even released. And that's our first
artist of the week! |
