SAIYAN

These are people from the Planet Vegeta, which was destroyed by Frieza when Goku was a baby. Saiyans are a warrior race who possess incredible strength and agility compared to a mere human. They love to fight and their power level increases after every battle. This was displayed in the Frieza Saga, when Vegeta told Krillin to attack him, Vegeta was healed by Dende and afterwards Vegeta's eyesight improved and he was able to see Frieza move about.

Charcters who are Saiyan's : Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Goten, Broli, Raditz, Pan (Gohan's daughter), Turles, Bra (Vegeta's daughter)


SUPER SAIYAN (SSJ)

In order for a Saiyan to turn Super Saiyan he must have Saiyan blood in him, either full-blooded (Goku, Vegeta) or half-blooded (Gohan, Trunks). In order for a Saiyan to transform he must be either pure good or pure evil. The level is achieved when the Saiyan experiences extreme anger which triggers off something which leads to the amazing transformation. Once the transformation is over the Saiyan's power level, speed and agility rises greatly. Physical Changes are: His hair turns blonde and spikes upward, his eyes turn green, his muscles increase in size and a golden aura surrounds him. The Saiyan is also able to triple his power level at will. Once Goku turns Super Saiyan he is no longer able to ride Kinto (Flying Nimbus) because he is no longer pure at heart because of his hatred for Frieza.

ULTRA SUPER SAIYAN (USSJ)

This stage is inbetween Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2, though you don't have to go through Ultra Super Saiyan to achieve Super Saiyan 2. When the Saiyan undergoes the USSJ transformation his hair becomes more spikey and turns more gold in colour. The muscles increase greatly in size, but because of this the Saiyan loses lots of speed, this was displayed in the Cell Game when Trunks turned Ultra Super Saiyan, because of his lack of speed his amazing power was literally useless.

Characters to reach this level : Goku, Trunks, Vegeta, Cell (although Cell is not Saiyan, he is made up from cells of Goku, Vegeta and Gohan allowing him to reach these levels), Brolli



SUPER SAIYAN 2 (SSJ2)

This level is even more powerfull than SSJ and USSJ. The Saiyan's power level increases ans well as his speed and agility. The Saiyan's body goes back to its normal size though there is some muscle size increase from the SSJ level. The hair becomes more spikey and more gold in colour. Along with the golden aura, this time there are bolts of electicity surrounding the Saiyan's body as well. The Saiyan is also able to adjust his power levels making it easy to accomodate the fighter's needs. Gohan was the first Saiyan to go SuperSaiyan 2, this was achieved in the Cell Game.

SUPER SAIYAN 3 (SSJ3)

This is an extremely difficult level to achieve. It requires alot of training. Once the Saiyan has turned Super Saiyan 3. his power level, speed and agility increase tremendously. His hair grows down to the knees, the eyebrows disappear and the hair becomes more thick and full. The only downside is that if the Saiyan stays in this form too long, he will revert back to a normal Saiyan, this is because this form uses a huge amount of energy.

SUPER SAIYAN 4 (SSJ4)

This level is known as a True Saiyan. It is EXTREMELY difficult to reach as the Saiyan must go through Gold Oozaru before turning into SSJ4. The Saiyan must gain control of himself while in the Gold Oozaru form before he can turn SSJ4. The Saiyan's hair goes back to its natural colour and fur the same colour as the hair surrounds the torso (except for the chest) and the legs. The eyes turn yellow with a red outline around them. The Saiyan's tail regrows. All attributes are increased greatly, the power level of the other forms are multiplyed 200 times. Goku was the first Saiyan to reach this level followed by Vegeta, Vegeta however reached this level using a machine which Bulma built meaning that he did not have to go through SSJ3, the machine was called the Brute Ray. The Saiyan can only stay in this form for a short while as SSJ4 uses an immense amount of energy, afterwards the Saiyan must rest for about an hour because of stress on the body.
