Hi gang, Arigato to Yuki for finding the information on the song (and for also translating it as well)! The song was called "Mienai Chizu" by Anza, and I e-mailed the information to the person (hopefully it'll be located on CD) - the only info about it I found was here: http://www.animekaillou.com/ost/cardcaptorsakuraost.htm Once again, thanks to all for your assistance! Talk to you soon!

July 15, 2007 - Source: Email from Yuki from http://sakurabme.com/!

I got the information on the song. It's entitled "Mie-nai Chizu" sung by ANZA who also sang "Tobira o Akete" the opening theme of the 2nd Season. The lyrics card I made can be read here -- plus, in which I translated it into English. I hope my info helps you.

July 13, 2007 - email from Yuki from http://sakurabme.com/!

I found this news in CLAMP-NET.com, but Mokona (one of the members of CLAMP) wrote a guide book on kimonos, which is entitled "CLAMP Mokona no O-Kimono Kimono."  It is introduced in this URL: http://www.kawade.co.jp/okimono/ In the book, Monona explains and suggests how to wear and what kind of kimonos look appropriate (being cute, cool, etc.) for situation to situation.  She is such a kimono lover that she wears kimono every day; in contrast, even in Japan very few people wear kimonos in their daily lives.  She said that kimono is a kind of conversation starter, that is, when you wear kimono people tend to talk to you, like "Your kimono is pretty," "Did your grandmother give it to you?" or things.

I have some Tsubasa updates for you. Volumes 1-12 are out in America and Volume 13 will be out on May 1st, 2007. There's also a character guide that was released a few months ago. You can find Tsubasa and the character guide in your local bookstore. Well, one that sells manga at least. If you want you can find cover art for the first twelve volumes at Barnes and noble's website, which is http://www.bn.com. Also a collection of the first three Tsubasa volumes will be out in March 2007. The character guide also has an interview with Clamp discussing the series, and a breif section on the future of the manga...

Four Mothers of Manga Gain American Fans With Expertise in a Variety of Visual Styles

The name Clamp may sound odd and unfamiliar to Western ears, but this four-woman studio ranks among the most successful creators of manga, or graphic novels, in Japan and the United States. Over the last 17 years these women — Satsuki Igarashi, Apapa Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Ageha Ohkawa — have produced 22 popular manga series, many of which have been adapted to animation, including “X,” “Chobits” and “Cardcaptor Sakura,” all available on DVD in the United States.

“Clamp have been an integral part of the manga explosion that’s occurred in the U.S. over the past several years,” said Dallas Middaugh, associate publisher of the Del Rey Manga division of Random House, in an e-mail message. “Their fluid, dramatic artwork and storytelling style struck a strong chord with male and female manga readers.”

More than one million copies of the “Tsubasa” manga have been sold in the United States, and next month Del Rey will publish a character guide to that popular series. The Houston-based FUNimation Entertainment recently announced that the 52-episode animated television program based on “Tsubasa” would be available on DVD in this country early next year.

When they discuss their work, the four artists of Clamp confer among themselves; then Ms. Ohkawa usually acts as spokeswoman.

Through an interpreter, Ms. Ohkawa explained in an interview that the studio began as a group of 11 art students who got together to create doujinshi, or fan comics: amateur publications that continue the adventures of popular animated and/or manga characters. No one remembers who chose the name Clamp, but it stuck, long after the group shrank to four members who became professionals.

The women seem both pleased and surprised at their popularity in the United States. “For some series, we do consider the international audience,” Ms. Ohkawa said. “But we wonder, when American girls read our manga, do the stories touch their hearts? Can they relate to the characters?”

Clamp has created a diverse body of work in an industry in which artists often specialize in a single genre. The sci-fi comedy “Chobits” involves a frustrated romance between a geeky college student and a disturbingly beautiful android. In “xxxHOLIC,” Watanuki, a psychic high school boy, blunders into the shop of Yuko, a sorceress who can supply whatever a customer most ardently desires. Clamp’s best-loved creation is “Cardcaptor Sakura,” the story of a fourth-grade girl who inadvertently releases a deck of enchanted cards, then has to retrieve them before they work mischief on the world.

Unlike Serena, the ditsy teenager who transforms into Sailor Moon, the heroine of another popular series, Sakura is a good-natured but never saccharine girl who learns and grows from her supernatural experiences. Her best friend, Tomoyo, makes cute costumes for her magical missions.

“It’s common in girls’ manga for a character to transform, as Sailor Moon does, and we wanted to incorporate that into ‘Sakura,’ ” Ms. Ohkawa said. “But many of them always wear the same outfit, so we wanted to add a twist. We feel it’s pretty sad for a girl to wear the same outfit all the time.”

Clamp’s manga are also distinguished by their diverse visual styles. Yuko, the sensual sorceress in “xxxHOLIC,” might have stepped out of a wood-block print. Kamui, the slender, androgynous hero of the dark fantasy “X,” seeks the advice of Princess Hinoto, whose hair flows in Art Nouveau swirls that recall Alphonse Mucha’s widely reproduced posters for Sarah Bernhardt and Job cigarette papers. The massed blacks and dark shading in “xxxHOLIC” contrasts sharply with the straightforward line work of “Cardcaptor Sakura.”

Ms. Ohkawa, who compares her role to that of a producer-director, explained: “I decide who does the characters, and what she’s going to do with them, as a director would pick his actors. I assign the roles, depending on the genre of the series: horror, comedy and so forth. I also choose the visual style: in the case of ‘xxxHOLIC,’ it’s derived from Ukiyo-e,” woodblock prints.

“However, I’m not sure if the staff is satisfied with my direction,” she said with a laugh.

Many of the most popular manga on both sides of the Pacific are written and drawn by women, including Rumiko Takahashi (“Ranma 1/2,” “InuYasha”); Hiromu Arakawa (“Fullmetal Alchemist”); and Clamp. Their many hits have given the Clamp artists the power to create pretty much whatever they choose.

“While it’s true that the number of female directors in the animation industry has increased over the years, it’s more common for women artists to present their work in manga,” Ms. Ohkawa said. “It’s a way for them to express themselves freely. Strong female characters have become very common in manga — Sailor Moon is probably the most famous example — but I don’t know that women in Japan have become stronger. We’re in a unique position: Clamp makes a presentation to the publishers about what we want to do, receive an approval and go to work.”

The Clamp artists were eager to discuss the differences between the Japanese and American approaches to the creation of comics and graphic novels, and the growing cross-pollination between the popular cultures of the two countries.

“In Japan the artists on a manga don’t change until they complete the series, and when the artist passes away, the story ends; there’s just one artist,” Ms. Ohkawa said. “But in America, different teams work on different stories for ‘X-Men’ and other comics.”

“It used to be difficult to find American comics in Japan, but they’ve become more accessible in the bigger bookstores,” she said. “As creators in Japan, we’re very curious about American work and are pretty sure we’re influencing each other.”

July 4, 2006 - Source: Email from Yuki from http://sakurabme.com/!

"I lately found this DVD in amazon.com and bought one of those.  The DVD is entitled Cardcaptors The Final Judgement Special 3-Part Series, which was released by kaBOOM! Entertainment Inc. The DVD contains the episodes:

The Last Card Part I
The Last Card Part II, and
The Final Judgment

They were the same thing that were aired in Cardcaptors (North American version).  Amazingly, one more lingual version was recorded in the DVD--the French version, Sakura, Chasseuse de Cartes.  In contrast to the Cardcaptors that was badly cut and edited, the French version was awesome.  It was uncut and had almost no changes from the original version; namely, the same length, the same theme songs (as Japanese), and even the same background music in it. If it weren't for the French version, I wouldn't have wanted to let you know about this one.  I was excited to see the French version throughout three episodes even though I don't quite understand French."

Famous Japanese artists CLAMP Coming to the United States First ever U.S. appearance planned for Anime Expo 2006

Fort Worth, TX – April 10, 2006 – CLAMP, the renowned Japanese manga artists famous for their very popular and unique style, will make their first tour of the United States at this year’s Anime Expo. For manga and anime fans in the United States and throughout the world, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this influential group. The visit is being co-sponsored by Anime Expo, Del Rey Manga, FUNimation Entertainment and TOKYOPOP, and details of the itinerary are to be announced soon.

CLAMP consists of four women artists, Satsuki Igarashi, Ageha Ohkawa, Tsubaki Nekoi and Mokona, who create their own original story and characters in the Japanese graphic novel form known as "manga". They made their debut as manga artists in Japan in 1989 and since then have become bestselling authors, and animation films based on their work have been prominent on both TV and the cinema screen.

CLAMP has also been at the spearhead of the current flux and rise in popularity of Japanese anime and manga in the United States, with titles such as Magic Knight Rayearth, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Chobits. Among the manga and anime audience, CLAMP is one of the single most recognized names. The two series that they are currently writing in Japan, Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC, are both being published in English.

CLAMP will be the guests of honor at this year’s Anime Expo held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, from July 1 - 4. They will be involved with the opening ceremonies, there will be a discussion panel as well as limited autograph sessions for their U.S. and international fans. CLAMP will also present a premiere screening of the highly anticipated Tsubasa anime at the Anime Expo. The Tsubasa and xxx HOLiC anime DVDs are expected later this year.

"Anime Expo is pleased and honored to welcome CLAMP to the United States. We are so excited that they are joining our attendees and other special guests for our 15th Year Crystal Anniversary," Liyin Liang, Anime Expo 2006 Vice Chair.

"CLAMP is one of the most acclaimed groups of artists in Japan. We are extremely excited to be working with everyone to bring their unique art to the United States," said Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation.

Followup to news posted on Sept 16: Well, the downloads went back on one of two weeks ago due to the fact there was a error with the previous files which caused them to desync (Causing the sound to come 2 seconds after the video. I downloaded and tested what was available and they are now in sync, so you can download them now if you followed the previous instructions i sent last time. Now, the first 15 episodes and the OVAs will be up first due to the fact that these came on DVD over in Australia. The remaining 55 episodes will hopefully be up when Matt (the admin of the site) transfers them from video and that will take some time.

Dynamo_ace reports that the site http://www.cardcaptorredeemer.com/ contains downloadable episodes from Australia, but notes the following: 1. The site is undergoing a refit, so not everything is up. The downloads are being located on a temporary space and not all of the stuff is up at the moment. 2. You will need to be a member of the forum and have posted 10 times. I know that sounds a bit off at first, but trust me, you will be rewarded. Besides, an avid fan like you will have lots to say." I personally haven't seen any downloads available, but they may be up later.

September 14, 2005 - Barbara (AKA: clowprincess223) from Book of Clow

The Tsubasa Movie you are talking about is called The Princess of the Birdcage Country and came out august 21st in Japan. At the same time the xxxHolic movie The Midsummernight's Dream came out. At the premiere guests were given packs with the movie's soundtrack, a poster and a specially printed ticket (you can find them on ebay). The movie takes place after episode 16, Strength and Kindness, just before Syaoran and Sakura end up in Oto (the country from last chapter of book 5 and the entirety of book 6).

March 17, 2005 - Source: Email from Yuki of Sakura's BME Clinic

As you already know, in Japan, CCS will be completing its Clow Card Season by the end of March, followed by the new anime series Tsubasa RC, instead of Sakura Card Season.  This NHK's decision brought some dispute to the message board of my Japanese site.

For a few weeks, there's a rumor in the message board that NHK decided to broadcast Tsubasa RC, but they planed to broadcast CCS every few weeks in Tsubasa hour.  This rumor turned out to be false later, however, it triggered the dispute.  Now we (amoung the visitors to my Japanese site) have a reliable information that NHK kind of consider broadcasting Sakura Card Season within a year.  But some fans do not like NHK's attitude like that.  Then, why did NHK decide to discontinue CCS, though they have to reconsider the resumption within a year?  They are neglecting CCS fans's feelings, complained the fans.  Furthermore, there is a conjecture that this decision by NHK doesn't make sense because it's just evading the complaint.  Now the rebroadcasting Sakura Card Season is left in chaos.

It turns out the Miracle of Clamp (Clamp no Kiseki) magazine collection is not exclusive to Japan after all, and will be available in the USA, chess pieces and all, though TOKYOPOP!!! TOKYOPOP announced last year that they would be bringing the collection in honor of the 15th anniversary and each installment will be available, starting January 2005 every 2 months for the next two years. However, there will only be 10,000 copies of each volume of the magazine produced and when sold out will no longer be available.

A box set of the CCS DVDs is being published in Japan, and box set 1 is out on 1st April 2005. It contains 23 episodes & I'm not sure what else, because its a bit early, all details may vary. A first press can be found on http://www.cdjapan.co.jp limited edition cards & figure can also be found on cdjapan as well.

CLAMP has published a magazine called CLAMP no kiseki (which means miracle of CLAMP). The first issue was released in September 2003 & concentrates on Cardcaptor Sakura. It also includes a Sakura chess piece. If you collect all 12 issues of the magazine you can send a form to get a Kero & Suppi chess pieces, which you can not get anywhere else (too bad the offer is only available in Japan >.<) The magazine can be found at http://www.hlj.com (just type clamp in the search box)
