Digimon Season 3 is called "Digimon Tamers" Its in a world where Digimon is an 'entertainment product'- meaning? Digimon is to them, what it is to us here! So these new characters are Digimon Fans. Each Tamer has a Digimon partner with them in the real world (although they sometimes have to hide them, because most people don't know that Digimon are real!). The two work together to beat evil Digimon that appear in the real world. With only three main characters, the Digimon get a little more spotlight and character development than they did in the other two seasons. That's the theory, anyway.
Another difference between these Digimon and the ones from the first two series is that the Tamers help their Digimon more. By activating battle cards with 'card slash', they can give their Digimon special, temporary attacks and powers to use against their enemy. This is important because often these Digimon will fight enemies at higher levels to themselves and would not be able to beat them unless they had the bonus of these techniques and their Tamer's strategy. These Digimon can also evolve with the power of Calumon.
There is also an agency called Hypno who are trying to find out about Digimon and could cause a lot of trouble!
All three Digidestined are 13 yrs old. The new Digivice is called 'D-Arc', it looks like 01's digivice and 02's D-3 combined, very cool! They use cards that slide into the D-Arc to have the Digimon Digivolve. Another digimon in the new season is Culumon/ Calumon/ Kurumon (Probably Calumon) he helps the others out. He is playful, watchful and very independent. He is also very curious about human life. Somehow he has found his way into the human world. He met the Tamers when Takato and Guilmon found him hiding at Takato's school. Culumon was very happy to meet the two. He had been hanging out at Takato's school, terrifying Juri (who didn't know who he was), admiring the soccer playing and imagining himself as a star player, and trashing the school grass.
Culumon is terribly cute and although he can talk a little, his vocabulary mostly consists of "cululu! He's just like a very little kid and he likes all the Tamers and their Digimon, and nobody can help liking him back, he's so innocent and cheerful and cute. Even Ruki likes Culumon, in a Ruki sort of way.
Although the others tend to see Culumon as something needing protection, Culumon has mysterious hidden powers. He can help Tamer Digimon to Digivolve, when the red symbol on his forehead flashes.
There is also an evil Digimon called Impmon who digivolves to Beelzemon. Although he's obviously a bad guy, his meanness is of a funny sort - he's not big and scary and trying to demolish large buildings. He does push his luck though, stretching the patience of Digimon stronger than him. He has an attack called Night of Fire
