2003-2004 Captains

Esmeralda Alverez(19) and Jamie Carvajal(14)

Esmeralda Alverez is a third year senior and captain for both the 2002-2003, 2003-2004 season. Her junior year she played the mid-field position. When her senior year came she decide to try the forward position, and was very good at it. She played both postions throughout the games during her last year.

Joselle Abagat has played for the team since it first started. She has put in alot of hard work every time she was on the field. As a starting forward she always had put points in the scorebooks. She has mastered the art of maneuvering the ball ball with her stick and doing very creative tricks to get pass an opponent.

Nayeli Alcatar returned for second year of field hockey, as another one of the teams forwards. She is another good ball handler, getting passed the other team with great ease. She never has any complaints about anything and always tries her best. Yazmin, her second name, is always in high spirits keeping the teams spirits up.

Iliana Armenta played her first year as a senior. She played as a defense player. Although she is small she always gave the opponent hard work in trying to get the ball into the goal. She did get a black eye in one game (when a high stick hit her) and she just shakes it off and got back into the game.

Andrea Alverado played her second year as a senior, playing as a middle forward. She put in a lot into the team. Andrea wanted the team to succeed as much as possible.

Thelma Barboza played her first year while she was a senior, as a mid-field player. Her high spirits and constant singing "la vaca" always put the team in a good mood. She had a lot of talent for this being her first year. She became an excellent dribbler and always made the right pass at the right time.

Javier Buenrostro was the team manager. The senior learned a lot about the team and the game throughout the season. "Mr. manager, sir" as some of the team called him felt he did a good job keeping up with the team. He kept the scores and the team going making sure we weren't slacking off.

Natalia Cardosa has played as a defensive player for her third year. She is now a senior and helped the goalie keep the ball out of the goal. She has come back every year wanting to play with heart. She always wanted the best for the team and did her best to make sure that she did her job right and effectively.

Jamie Carvajal has played for three years as a forward. Her junior year she was captain for the team. She always tired her hardest to make the most out of each game.

Katherine Garcia played her first year as a junior. She did very well as a defensive player, but soon decided she wanted to try the position as a mid-field. When she got more experienced and better she did better than on defense. She work very well with her partnered forward, and helped get the ball up to our scoring goal.

Richard Garcia was the teams assistant manager. This was his first year with the team as a senior. He made practices hard but always fun. He push the players to show that the team had real talent and would be able to win games with time and effort.

Jennifer Gallegos was one of the teams best mid-field player. She played her first year as a junior and applied her experienced soccer instincts, and put them into field hockey. Jenny was a very aggressive player who got the ball whenever she wanted it. Wherever the ball was she was there.

Rochel Gil was a second year junior mid-field player. She came back for her second year ready to play and improve on her game. When Rochel is in a game she is unstoppable, she gets the ball around and does whatever she needs to do in order to get her job done.

Alex Marquez played as defensive player as a sophomore. Her first year was hard for her in the beginning. The team tired her out in different positions and found out that she would be a awesome defense player. She tried extra hard to learn her position and was always open to suggestions.

Luanie Salon played her first year knowing very little about the game. The junior always did try her best in every position she played. She started off being a forward/ mid-field , but then the captains and coaches realized that she was a lot better as a defensive player. It was very hard to get the ball past her.

Zhelan Tahir was a second year mid-field/forward player that played with a lot of heart. She worked extremely well with the other players, to get the ball up the field. She always came ready to play and prepared to do her best. Zhelan had the aggressiveness a mid-fielder needs and the skill of ball handing that a forward needs.

Dalet Quinones played her first year anxious to play. She wanted to play on defense from the start. The team realized that playing that position came natural to here, because she was very good. She was always open to suggestions and open minded to any comments that would better her game.

Maricela Vallerio played her first year ready to play. Even though she was quite most of the time, she had no trouble sneaking in on the other opponent to take the ball away. She was always making jokes to make the team laugh and always in high sipirts.

Rhea Vida was a senior forward. She came back for her third year ready to play. In the past she was the teams top scorer. She knows the way to pass around the ball getting it to her team-mates. This year she had one assist to help score in the first Chula Vista game.

Jonathon was the teams water boy. He came in as a senior wanting to serve the team refreshing water. He always made sure the water bottles were full of cooling water. Jonathon will always be remembered for his "run a lap" comments whenever something was done wrong.
