OUR PUBLICATIONS.

The Australian Society of the Lacemakers of Calais has published two books detailing the history of this unique group of English artisans.

These are The Lacemakers of Calais which was edited by Gillian Kelly and published by the Society in 1990 and Well Suited to the Colony, written by Gillian Kelly and published by ASLC in 1998. More information on both these books can be obtained by following the appropriate link below.

The Australian Society of the Lacemakers of Calais also publishes a quarterly journal called Tulle. This has been published since our inception in 1982 and contains a wealth of material about individual lacemakers, the history surrounding their occupation, their lives in Nottingham and Calais, the reasons for their emigration to start new lives in Australia and related material. Back copies of many issues are available from the Editor at modest cost. More information on the contents of Tulle can be discovered by following the appropriate link below.
