JOINING US. Membership of the Australian Society of the Lacemakers of Calais is generally open to descendants of those lacemakers who emigrated to Australia from France and England in 1848 and the early part of 1849, as well as those who hold an interest in this particular group of artisans. Membership is currently (2015) $38 per person/couple at one address per year. An additional charge of $5 applies to new members in their first year of membership and to existing members whose subscriptions are paid more than three months after the due date (subscriptions are due by 1 January each year). Those granted membership are entitled to four copies of the Society's journal, Tulle, each year and to attend the quarterly meetings. New members joining during the year will be provided with back issues of Tulle so their collection reflects a full year subscription.
