Phang Nga Church Planting Ministry

Thailand, which means Land of the Free, has this name due to the fact that Thailand has never been colonised by a Western country. The truth is that although politically free, the Thai people continue to live in deep spiritual bondage. 93.4% of the population are Buddhist, 4% are Muslim, 1.6% are Chinese religions and 1% are Christians. But the main religious undercurrent in the life of most Thai people is that they fear and worship spirits. This is known as Animism.

The Pak Thai of southern Thailand, with a total population of more than 3.1 million are one of the largest unevangelized peoples in the world which are living in a country with relatively few restrictions on Christian witness.2 – International Journal of Frontier Missions Also located in the south of Thailand, just inside of the 10/40 Window, is the province of Phang Nga. This is one of the provinces in Thailand with the fewest amount of Christians.

YWAM Thailand has a church planting ministry working with the Pak Thai in the province of Phang Nga. This church planting team has established many relationships in the community through teaching English, student camps, seminars, special events and friendship evangelism. We continue to reach out in evangelism and discipleship helping to establish the church in Phang Nga.

Opportunities for Involvement

The YWAM Church Planting team in Phang Nga is mainly involved in evangelism and church planting. We are in need of people who are trained and called to church planting long term (5 years or more). If you are a person who likes to work on a team, is called to cross cultural ministry and wants to be involved in evangelism, discipleship and church planting in unreached areas, please contact us.

There are also opportunities for short term workers in Phang Nga (1 year or more). If you are interested and trained to teach English, there are opportunities to teach in the local public schools.

If you would like more information about the YWAM church planting work in Phang Nga and/or if you would like to know how you could be more involved in supporting the work in Phang Nga, please contact us.
