Jimmie Johnson 2005 Race Comments

2-20- Daytona 500-Jimmie didn't quite have the car, but a good start to the season. Finishes 5th after a little bump and rub with Tony Stewart, who rammed into Jimmie after the race. Just another one of Tony Stewart's temper tantrums that Nascar allowed. I guess somebody will have to get hurt before Nascar actually does anything about it.

2-27- Auto Club 500-Should have won this race! I think if he had 1 more lap? Finished 2nd! A fuel only stop about halfway through the race may have cost them, however they did pick up 5 points for leading!

3-13- UAW/DaimlerCrysler 400-WIN #1! Jimmie led the most laps, but this win is marred because post race inspection showed his cars roof was to low. He will keep the win, but it will cost him in points and money. (Like he needs the money!) The second place car of Kyle Busch, also did not pass post race inspection. His car was to high in the back. (Both are Hendrick Motorsports cars.) Could Jeff Gordon be involved to? Nascar levied a $35,000 fine, 25 driver points, 25 owner points, and last but not least, a 2 race suspension of Jimmie's crew chief Chad Knause. Similar sanctions against Kyle Busch. Were these infractions actually intentional? Probably not. I agree to the points and fines being levied, but the suspensions may be a little to stiff in this case. They suspended Kevin Harvick's crew chief for an improper fuel cell for qualifying. This I do agree with. He admitted to cheating! There was no mistake about that!

3-20- Golden Corral 500-Almost won this one! Looks like there is no stopping Jimmie! Week after week, he is right there! Finished 2nd! Crew chief Chad Knaus was there. Hendrick Motorsports appealed Nascr's decision and Chad can still participate until his hearing. Chances are, he will have to serve the suspension of 2 races. Jimmie won more money than the winner of this race. Jimmie $173,241. Carl Edwards $165,450.

4-3- Food City 500-Could have won this one, if not for a little bad luck. There was some banging and bumping going on and Jimmie sustained some damage that called for a longer pit stop! Finished 6th.

4-10- Advanced Auto Parts 500-Made a bad day into a good one! Started 37th and finished 8th! That's 6 straight top 10 finishes!

4-17- Samsung/RadioShack 500-Another good finish! Started 18th, finished 3rd! Might have had a chance to win if he could have started his move a little sooner!

4-23- Subway Fresh 500-Jimmie's worst finish so far, 15th! Not really all that bad! Struggled all day.

5-1- Aaron's 499-Wow! Crashes with 2 laps to go! Finished 20th with a DNF! Jimmie's string of good luck seems to have come to an end for the time being! Looks like Jimmie was partly responsible for the big 25 car pile up along with Dale Earnhardt Jr.. He was also responsible for the pile up on lap 187. Getting a little greedy aren't we Jimmie? Driving the car faster than you can handle?

5-7- Dodge Charger 500-Finished 7th. Came back from a lap down! Good finish! At least Jimmie didn't get blamed for any accidents this week!

5-14- Chevy American Revolution 400-BAD DAY! Jimmie gets spun on lap 81! Was it an accident or done on purpose? He does have a couple coming! Finished 40th!

5-21- Nextel All-Star Challenge*-Finished 5th in this non-point race for the money event!

5-29- Coca Cola 600-A record breaking WIN! First driver to ever win this race 3 times in a row! Also a record 22 caution flags!

6-5- MBNA Racepoints 400-Mr. consistant! Finished 4th! Not a winning car, but close!

6-21- Pocono 500-Another top 10! Finished 6th! Maintains the point lead!

6-19- Batman Begins 400-Jimmie slipped a little today. Finished 19th. The whole Hendick Motorsports organization had problems. Better get it together. Roush is taking over.

6-26- Dodge/SaveMart 350K-Another bad day. Finished 36th after having transmission linkage problems and a little banging with Dale Jarrett. Drops to 2nd in points.

7-2- Pepsi 400-Finished 6th! Takes the point lead back!

7-10- USG Sheetrock 400-Can't keep Jimmie down! Finished 3rd after being a lap down with tire problems!

7-17- New England 300-Not one of Jimmie's best performances. Finished 13th.

7-24- Pennsylvania 500-12th place finish. Maintains point lead. Barely! At least Jimmie will be in the chase!

8-7- All State 400 @ The Brickyard-Bad day! Finished 38th, after crashing with 22 laps to go. Lost the point lead, but will make it to the chase!

8-14- Sirius @ the Glen-Bounces back with a 5th place finish!

8-21- GFS Marketplace 400-Finished 10th. Nothing to write home about, but has mathmatically secured a spot for the chase.

8-27 -Sharpie 500-Bad day. Engine failure. Finished 36th. Can't afford to many of these!

9-4- Sony HD 500-Finished 16th. Just another bad day.

9-10- Chevy Rock and Roll 400-Finished 25th. Dropped to 4th in points, but is in the chase. Better step it up if you want a championship.

9-18- Sylvania 300-Finished 8th. Drops to 6th in the point standings.

9-25- MBNA 400-Jimmie WINS! Takes over the point lead! 8 races to go. Can he hold on to the lead?

10-2- UAW-Ford 500-Caught up in 2 accidents. Finished 31st. Only finished 30 laps down! Drops to 4th in the chase.

10-9- Banquet 400-Good day. Finished 6th, but lost ground in the chase. Really could stand to win a couple races.

10-15- UAW-GM Quality 500-WIN! WIN! WIN! That's 4 in a row at Lowes Motor Speedway! 5 out of the last six races there! Moves into a tie for first place in the chase! Can Jimmie pull it off? 5 races left, can't make any mistakes now.

10-23- Subway 500-Finishes 3rd behind Tony Stewart, who about took Jimmie out while trying to pass him. Stewart was crying after the race again. I wish somebody would take this cry baby out so he would have something to cry about! I think Jimmie would have if he could have got back to him! Better keep an eye out next week! It could be interesting!

10-30- MBNA Bass Pro 500-Finished 16th. I think that Jimmie needs to get rid of Robbie Loomis, who is on board as an consultant for the remainder of the season. He has brought his bad luck to the 48 team. Just look at how much Jeff Gordon has improved since Robbie left!

11-6- Dickies 500-Finished 5th. 38 points out of 1st place with 2 races left! Somebody needs to take Tony Stewart out!

11-13- Checker Auto Parts 500-Finished 7th. Needs to take Tony Stewart out in order to win the championship. Currently 52 points out.

11-20- Ford 400-Bad day! Cut a tire and hit the wall, ending Jimmie's run for the championship. Finished 40th in the race and 5th in the point standings. Just doesn't seem to be able to put it away when he's knocking on the door! We will have to wait until next year to see if he can pull it off.
