If MDAC (Data components) are required for Build-N-Book then why they are not included in the Build-N-Book setup? Why I need to download them separately?

MDAC Data components ships with many of the Microsoft programs (such as MS Office) as well as they are freely available from Microsoft website. These components are also included in some version of windows so most of the users running Microsoft windows will already have these components. Including these components in Build-N-Book setup will increase the file size significantly. Why you should spent time in downloading software components which are most probably already exist on your system. In rare cases when some one does not have these components installed, they can download it separately.


While installing Build-N-Book I get the error 'An access violation occurred while copying the file.' Abort, retry, Ignore?

Installation of Build-N-Book copies several files on your computer. Some of these files may already be present. If any of these files is in used by some other software or operating system, setup will not be able to copy that file and display this message. In this case you can click on Ignore button to continue the installation without copying that file. There should be no problem in running the software because the file is already present on your computer. It is recommended that you close all other programs before installing Build-N-Book.


When I run Build-N-Book, it says 'DSN is not setup correctly. Please setup DSN first.' What should I do to setup DSN?

Creating a DSN is required For Build-N-Book to run correctly. When you run this software it check for the DSN. If a DSN is not found, above message is displayed after which it will display 'Setup DSN' screen where you can create a DSN with a single click. Please view our Installation page for more details.


I have installed Build-N-Book but when I run it, it displays a login window. How do I login?

Build-N-Book requires a valid login/password to run. It comes with a single user named 'Admin'. This user does not have any password. When you install and run Build-N-Book first time, you should enter 'Admin' in the login field and leave the password field blank. Later you can setup a password for 'Admin' as well as create other users.


I was using Build-N-Book but it is not working for some reason and I want to reinstall it keeping my existing data. How can I make backup of my data file without running Build-N-Book?

Build-N-Book includes built-in features for making backup of your data. However if application is not running then you have to manually copy the data file to make a backup. The data file is located in the 'Data' folder in the folder where you have installed Build-N-Book. File name is 'BuildNBookData.mdb'. Copy this file to a safe place. After reinstalling Build-N-Book you can restore this file using Restore feature of the software. Please view our Installation page for more details.


I have download and installed Build-N-Book shareware/trial version. When I purchase it, do I have to download it again? What is the difference between Registered and trial version of Build-N-Book?

No. If you have download the shareware/trial version of Build-N-Book then you do not have to download it again. When you purchase and register, you will receive a registration number. When you enter this registration number in Build-N-Book, your trial version will be updated to registered version. The difference between trial and registered version is that in trial version you cannot enter more than 100 transactions. When you register Build-N-Book this restriction will be removed. All the other features of Registered and unregistered versions are exactly same.
