Okay, very recently (meaning for most of this year actually) I heard a few people talking about how they were going to get high later on in the day. I heard someone say they came to school earlier that day and were completey stoned. And I also heard this one girl, who I don’t particularly like, practically shouting to the whole classroom if anyone had a cigarette…and the teacher was in the room. That to me, was a complete act of stupidity.
To tell you the truth, they look on smoking and being drunk and high, a good thing. Oh yes, how wonderful, it is. Puking the next day, causing brain damage, and causing their last years of their life to be filled with none stop coughing. I’m just sick of it. Truthfully, I don’t care what they do. If they want to go ahead and kill themselves over and image of being cool and want to act stupid in the process, then so be it. While, I think they are stupid and know for a fact that they are wrong in what they are doing, I can’t change it. The government can’t, so how can I? All I can do is not do it myself. And I did ask someone why they smoke and drink and why they think it’s cool, and actually it was exactly like they say in the tv ads, the kid didn’t have an answer. He answered me with “Well, cuz it’s cool.” Then, “It’s fun.” I don’t think it’s fun puking, but hey, if he likes it, then that’s his thing, but he didn’t have a real answer for me.
But what I don’t like, is that the government keeps putting ads all over the place especially in commercials, speaking to teens to not smoke, have sex, drink, or do drugs. They have been doing this for years, and have the children listened? No. So finally, those geniuses in the government and those agencies realized that kids are stupid, they won’t listen to what you say because they think that what they are doing is the right, cool, and trendy thing. What they have to aim towards are the parents. Now they say, “Talk to your kids.” “Ask questions.” Good, now they know where the actual blame lies. Parents who don’t teach their kids not to do drugs and all the above mentioned things, will be the ones who have kids running around getting people pregnant and getting pregnant, smoking, dying, puking, and whatever else comes along with what they do. Parents who teach their kids not to do those things, will have stable children who can see the drunks for what they are: funny, but stupid. And they will see everything else wrong with what all the other kids are doing.
I know right now, to some, I seem condescending, which I guess you’re right. But if you really look at things, and the way kids take drugs without even dreaming that they would die by doing it, you would see how pathetic it is. It’s all over the TV about how some kids die with the first drug they do because their body can’t handle it, and the same goes for drinking. People could die right in front of them and they will just go and do more drugs. Plus I know I must seem insensitive to those people who are trying to get over their addictions, but I’m not. I am happy for them actually, because they see the wrong in it and want a change. I just want to know, just what is so wrong with this society in the great USA that it can’t keep it’s own kids off of drugs.
