Notes for THOMAS JEFFERSON JOHNSON: Jim Lawrence has marriage certificate. Thomas was a very good fiddle player.

Tom Johnson , Freeman Lawrence, William Saylors all registered for the draft on Sept. 12, 1918 in Booneville, MS. Tom signed as Tom JohnsTon. Have copies.

Tom was living on Route 4 in Booneville and was share cropping for J.O. Robinson, was tall, stout build, brown eyes, light colored hair.

Following per Martha Lawrence Peek memories:

Tom as an easy going, passive man. Worked very hard,never raised his voice, & never accumulated many earthly posessions. Remembers him wrapping children's feet in 'teesacks' to keep warm. Would work hard at sawmill & play poker. Some mornings there was no flour for biscuits so Delphia would make cornbread & gravy. Lot of homeless men riding the rails and tracks were close to house. Tom would put a straight chair on the floor & lean against it to sleep.
